I understand you hate Obama, but I honestly don't believe he's TRYING to ruin our country. I also don't believe that the Republicans have any better answers. I do feel that Republicans are hell bent on making sure that Obama fails. I don't think that the Democrats are 100% right, but neither are the Republicans. This is a long, long, row to hoe. And there's more than one way to skin a cat. The country elected Obama, so to that point, most must believe he has the best answers at this time. In short order, we'll begin the ugly process of choosing the next President. It will be interesting to see who comes up with what answers then.

You are speaking with hyperbole. I can't even begin to want to have a discussion if that's the only way someone can look at an issue.

Here is the problem I have. He has blamed Bush for EVERYTHING his first 4 years even though when Bush left office Gas was less than $2 a gallon and unemplyment was better and the deficit was over 4 trillion less. Yet after all his finger pointing he has still spent more than any other president in history, he still has the economy in a shambles and he is still increasing spending with majority of entitlements.

 

course you being a Democratic liberal you would disagree with a balanced budget because a balanced budget actually makes sense. Why only spend what we take in whhen you can spend more than we take in....it's the liberal way. You not thiking there should be a balanced budget is all I needed to know on your values. I am not exaggerating or using it as a figure of speech. I can show how each of these are true. Rockmom, I know you are an educated woman and keep up with things and make a lot of great points. You are a great Mod, but I have to admit I am shocked at how you agree with his points on these topics. Calling out? Sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone, but I believe if someone doesn't aggree on a balanced budget when the majority of spending goes toward entitlementss then that tells me they believe in the spending for entitlements. What else would you call it?

Entitlements have their place in society. Are they being abused currently? Yes, but not by everyone who receives them. Reform is needed, but complete elimination isn't the right call.

 

I was able to go to college debt free because of Governor's Scholar Program which is a program sponsored heavily by the State. My financial situation wasn't the best, and others called the program "nerd camp". However, I wasn't lazy like my classmates and decided to take advantage of the opportunity. At the time, and during most of my time growing up, financial assistance was needed and it helped. I do my part and give back to programs that help others, now that I am financially able to do so. Not every family has the white-picket fence and a mom who stays at home while dad works bring home $150K+.

 

Balanced budgets are great, but when you are a politician and the primary thing on your mind is votes, you do not want to rub any group of people wrong. I'm not condoning spending twice of what you make, but I can understand how on would lose priorities. A lot of the issues that plague this country, I'm afraid, won't be resolved anytime soon. The country is more divided politically now than it has been in decades; a president needs to consider the interest of the ENTIRE country, instead of those who backed him.

Well, I understand your fears. That's how I felt with GWB said we were going to Iraq. You may be right. But, I don't for one minute believe he is intentionally trying to ruin the country. And for the most part, I agree with his policies, so there's that.

 

We will agree to disagree then as I cannot think of any major policies I agree with him on...and his spending policies are completely reckless (mark my words, Obamacare will be the worst nightmare this country has ever had - except for disasters where people have been killed like 9/11). If the CEO of a public traded company played the games with spending that our politicians do (not just Obama, all of them - he is just one of biggest offenders), they would not only be fired, they would be put in jail for fraud.
