There was one picture of people on the entire site...:lol: That's a great indication of the student population. Claiming the students were all white is every bit as racist and discriminatory as someone who just assumes that the perp is a black male when they hear about a burglary.

I will stand by my contention that the majority (if not entirety) of the student body doing the chanting was white.

February 15, 201313 yr Wow we've gotten whimpy in this country. I was at a basketball game where the point guard for one team was a red-headed, freckle faced kid. Every time he touched the ball the opposing students began chanting ginger. Should those students have been forced to apologize to him? Maybe off the subject here a little bit...but...why do high school kids...from any school...think it's ok to degrade another high school kid during an athtetic event? Personally I think it's disgusting that kids would shout that at this player. I think it's crap and I think kids are getting away with a LOT of stuff in the stands that they shouldn't be saying or doing. Maybe thats old school, but thats what I think. Not enough civility in this day and age.
February 15, 201313 yr This is probably another example of a very few starting a problem that engulfs others. My guess is that the cheer was started by a handful of students and (for UKMF) IN MY OPINION it was done for exactly the reasons I've stated. You then get others jumping in . Some may have gotten it and joined in to heckle. Others may have just been along for the ride chanting anything their buddies are cheering without thinking. The coach of Heights seems to have handled it well. Immediately cut it off and then spoke to the school the next morning telling them they need to be "better than that." Will this lesson be learned by those whose (IMO) intent was to demean? Maybe not. I would hope , though, that others who jumped in, including fellow Hispanics, would learn from it.
