At the Holy Cross graduation ceremonies last year they made sure to refer to the 3 (yes 3) State Championships that class had won. 2A Football, Boys All-A Basketball, and Girls All-A Volleyball.

What about the cheerleaders? Or doesn't that count now?

You boy's followers are way behind. We had this discussion on the girls board awhile back. Where were all you NON-All A supporters then! Felt like I was the only one out there. Now I see others are alive! Is there a way to do a big copy and paste all my comments from the other forum so I can get my thoughts in here without getting blisters on my fingertips again!

It's easy. All bigger schools look down on the All "A" as an everyone gets a trophy type tournament b/c it is not sanctioned. Those who are objective and rationale realize that winning a tournament that is formatted exactly like the state tournament and represents over 40% of the schools in KY is, in a way, equal to or harder than winning another state tournament where there are only 35 schools in that class. It all depends on whether you believe that the word "sanction" takes precedence over the belief of the competing schools that they are competing in a state wide tournament.

It is not sanctioned by the KHSAA, but it is a state championship - the All 'A' Classic state championship. Argue the merits if you will, but my daughter's golf team at Villa won the state title in 2007 and a banner hangs in the gym that says "2007 All A Classic State Champions." Doesn't diminish anything and it doesn't supercede what anyone accomplishes at the KHSAA all-school level.
