OK, I have to say I had to read the first part of this thread a couple of times to truly understand it. The reason why is I can't imagine ANYTHING that would make a coach that upset after victory. Whether or not you felt an injustice over anything, simply walk through the line and shake hands. Of course, even if Fleming lost and he was upset, he still should have done the same thing. Show a little class, which apparently this coach does not have.

 

Although it may not have been fair to the kids of Fleming County, I wish Lewis would have made all 4 free throws and walked away with the victory. Just so stupid what this coach did.

 

Now, as far as repurcussions, surely Starns (or Fleming administration) is going to do something about this beyond the KHSAA mandated 2 game suspension. There simply is no place for any assistant to be running his mouth at officials at any point during the game, certainly not to the point where you get back-to-back technicals after the final horn. Really makes you wonder if this coach is not a Starns fan and was trying to sabotage a victory. I know that is far fetched and probably not what happened, but somebody has to help me with the actual reason the assistant would do this.

Very valid arguments. I have never heard of a coach getting techicals after a victory. Sounds like a very embarrassing situation for Fleming County but at the same time we all make mistakes...just some on bigger stages. Hope the coach who got the T's learn a valuable lesson from the situation.

Very interesting game to say the least. The Ruckel kid was by far the best player on the floor. Fleming looked dazed and confused on the offensive end as Lewis ran the zone to perfection. There were spurts where Burns looked as if he may take over but never really took the initiative. As for the ending Ruckel had to be nervous going to the line in that situation. Can't even imagine the pressure on him. Why he didn't touch the ball until a couple minutes into the overtime period, is beyond me.

Clyde has to beat PP92 in ruzzle before he can claim to be the smartest on BGP.

Considering Fleming is 20-4 and Lewis is 11-12, taking Fleming to overtime does sound like Lewis must have had them dazed and confused for a while anyway.

I have done the book for many games and I have never had an Official deliver the ball to the scorer's table after the game. They made throw it in the direction of the table but not deliver it. They get there selves off the floor.

I was at this game, and see it all go down. The Fleming asst. coach was mouthing to the ref when he got the first T. Whatever he said must have really upset the ref. because he really got up in the face of the asst. coach. Instead of walking away he and the asst. coach were mouthing back and forth while the police were trying to split these guys up. Then the ref gave the coach the second T. The ref was taken off the floor before the coach. Keep in mind this was all going down mid court while the teams were shaking hands.

This is sad event and sure doesnt set a very good example for our kids. What the asst. coach done wasnt acceptable but I think it could have been better controlled if the ref has just gave the first T and walked away instead of jumping in the face of the coach. Hopefully everyone learns from it.
