I am told there was a wild scene at the end of regulation tonight in what I will assume is a big rivalry between Lewis and Fleming.

I'd love to hear from someone that was there.

I'm told that Fleming won the game by 3 in regulation. However, as the teams were progressing through the post-game handshake a Fleming County coach (maybe an assistant) yelled at the refs who were still around and got 2 Ts. That meant that Lewis County got 4 FTs. They made 3 and the game went to OT where Fleming won.

Anyone?

KHSAA says it was Coach Josh Graham who was ejected.

Multiple people are to blame for this incident.

Who are the multiple people?

So a game isn't really over when its over?

I have never heard of technical fouls being assessed during the post game handshake. So when is the game actually over then?

The game is over when the officials leave the visual confines of the floor.

Rulebook says the official's authority ends when the officials "leave the visual confines of the area."

Good officials NEVER are near a handshake line after a game just for this reason. A coach who is still mad is going to light into you and then you have to take action.

Get OFF the floor as soon as the buzzer sounds. You do NOT need to deliver the ball back to the scorer's table. This isn't REC ball.

The coach is OBVIOUSLY to blame as well. You can't lose it like that.

However, it's avoidable if the official isn't trying to be nice and be buddies after the game. Get OFF the floor.

I have seen technicals and ejections following the completion of the game.

I've never seen them re-start a game as a result.

I'm guessing that's because the deficit was greater than the number of awarded FTs. If the FTs can impact the winner or loser of the game they have to be shot.

So is that what happened or did the coach yell whatever he did as the officials were leaving the floor?

Wasn't there but that's what I was told happened.

Fortunately the head coach for Fleming hadn't already had a T or he, too, would have been ejected as a result of the assistant coach's 2 Ts.

I saw it. The coach started on the official as he was leaving the floor, and continued his rant and advancement towards the official after the buzzer. Wouldn't stop, even after the first technical. Could have gotten ugly. Your assessment of why the technicals were shot is the way it was explained last night.

I wasn't there but that's the explanation given in today's article in the Maysville paper. If Lewis County had been behind by more that four points, the FTs wouldn't have been shot. Also, the referees hadn't left the playing court so the game wasn't officially over.
