I thought he did. I thought he was in between dribbles when he popped up. Close, but considering he dribbled throughout the entire fall/spin, not sure you can call it.

I thought it looked like a carry to me as well. If I was on the opposing sideline, I'd be furious, even if it was a legal play.

I did look at that a couple of times. I think he kept his dribble alive but part of that was by carrying the ball.

I'd like to have seen the view from the other side of the gym.

Now the real question is what would we have called in real-time without aid of video. Sometimes it takes a while for your brain to catch up.

I would have likely let it go knowing there wasn't a prayer he'd make it. Then I'd be on a message board being scrutinized.

Tough call. It looks like he slid and did not dribble and carried the ball while he was rolling and through it up. I could see how the officals couldve got caught up in the play and just let it go and maybe never thought it would go in BUT I dont think the team that made the shot wouldve had a agruement if they called traveling or a carry. Hell of a shot though!!!!

How does the "carry" rule actually read................

I think you count the shot. The call couldn't be a carry ( his hand stays on top of the ball). during the roll over the ball is still being bounce.( if you can slide down the floor and bounce the ball that isn't a traveling call the ball is bouncing and he really doesnt have possesion of the ball) I think it is a good no call. It appeard he was trip. which could be a foul> any contact in with ball handler fall to the floor wheater being accident or purpose is a foul.

I actually had to re-watch it several times

first impression the first time i watched it was no, there was traveling that should of been called.

 

Then I watched it again and noticed he was still dribbling the ball as he was sliding. Then after watching it again even though he was still dribbling he actually "carried" the ball and should of been called for that. So the shot should not of counted.
