Best Frosh in NKY

Featured Replies

What is the most common age of an 8th grade basketball player, 9th grade, 10th grade, etc...

I am asking because I'm surprised at some of the ages I'm hearing that these kids are. I know that James Bolden always had to have an exemption form when he played AAU ball because he was a year too old to play at his grade level. And there are plenty of other Sophs who were 16 during this past summer.

Although I do not believe he was "held back" -- maybe started later?

KY guidelines say that a current frosh would be born between Oct 1 1997 and Sep 30 1998.

For a 9th grader it would be 14 or 15. My kids have mid to late April birthdays and in todays way of thinking both would be back a year. My son would really enjoy another year of frosh football I am sure.

Fieger is a very good freshman player in three sports.

He could be the most talented frosh athlete in NKY.

Then wouldn't some 8th graders count by definition?:sssh:

Thanks. Didn't know that.

In the actual freshman league it has to be Jake Ohmer 8th grade guard for Scott. Everything starts with him. Tyler Bezold for HC is a great player too.

Tyler Bezold, great? I think he's good, but I wouldn't say great. Before I named him I'd say Williams, Weyer, Sweeney, maybe flood, and some others....

Again, don't get me wrong. Bezold is good, and will only get better, but wouldn't put him in the top 5 just yet.

If we're going with 8th graders its Cole VonHandorf, and it isn't close.

Huh????????????? Nice player, but lets not get too carried away. JMO

Which one are you speaking about? Fieger or Smith?

Smith for sure. Have not seen Fieger play baseball ever or basketball for some time, so cannot comment on him. He did have a good football season this year and I am sure Beechwood is hoping that he continues to develop at the QB position.

I was just commenting on his basketball. Has done a pretty nice job playing for the varsity team..........
