Qryche,

I think the point NKYBOY was trying to make was "If you live in a glass house, don't throw stones". Coach Herald has done a great job with this team but don't complain about being limited to the players within your school district when the two top players on Bwoods' team live outside those boundaries.

I will agree with you on that point.

Quote from the article:

"NewCath is the only 9th Region boys' team to win the All "A" state tournament since it went to its current format. The 'Breds won in 2000."

Didn't St. Henry win the whole thing in 2003?

Another reason to not take this article seriously.

Does anyone remember who the Crusaders beat in 2003?

Rose Hill, I believe.

St. Henry beat Rose Hill in the final. Their toughest game was Mayfield in the quarterfinals ... the Cardinals lost by two and started the game down two after one of their players was assessed a technical foul for dunking in pregame warmups.

Yes it was Rose Hill, I just wanted to point out it was OJ Mayo his 8th Grade year at Rose Hill. What a great run that was!

Mayfeild was a great game. I think it might have went to OT. Could be wrong. But I think the toughest oponent they played was Frankfort. Dunnaway, Current, Robertson. I think both Currents were on this team.

Dunaway was a freshman and Robertson was a sophomore. Yes, Frankfort had more talent, but Mayfield was the better team. I saw both games, and Mayfield gave St. Henry a tougher battle.

Also, I must take Coach Herald to task a bit(even as a supporter of what he's accomplished). Why say the following:

"I can only play kids who LIVE IN MY SCHOOL DISTRICT (emphasis added)" when talking about reasons for the Catholic schools' success over the last 15 years.

Anyone else catch this? Anyone else notice the picture? I would think a coach from Beechwood or Highlands would not do well playing the "privates have an unfiar advantage" card.

Herald has a habit of speaking before thinking and not showing much class. His JV beat Silver Grove's JV 58-6, with two varsity contributors jacking up threes late into the third quarter. In the varsity game, Silver Grove had subbed once down 20 with two minutes to go (the same kids who already were just beat by 52) and Herald kept Sawyer in the game to jack up threes. When the Grove's coach questioned him on his class or lack thereof, Herald proceeded to drop the "F" you on SG's coach. And I witnessed all of this from the stands. What type of example is that to his kids?

If this SGrove thing is true..... that is total lack of class on Mike Herald's part..... I think dropping a 50 pt win on someone is ridiculous.... reminds me of the days when Bob Seiter was at Brossart coaching in the mid 90's and he was full court pressing the Grove in the 4th quarter already up 80-40...... Steve hart's first year... I thought Steve was going to go over and rip his head off..... It was all he could do not to do that...LOL....

I think they beat University Heights in the final game.

No they lost in 1998 to UH in the finals when Harold Shwanagan was on the team. In 2003 they did beat Rose Hill and OJ Mayo.

Well.....having been present their was a lot said by Coach Hart before and at half time of that game. Don't judge too quickly............. And talk about bringing up a LONGGGGGG time ago.........

I think it was HELP!!! LOL But I am not sure what you are talking about. What could he have said before the game? I know the team he had that year and he knew he wasn't any good. I am not sure where that is coming from. But it was awhile ago
