Shady tactics are going to be used to ban guns.

Featured Replies

Conservatives and gun rights groups have said from the beginning that the gun ban legislation does not arise from the Newtown massacre but from an overriding, longstanding desire on the part of anti-gun politicians and activist groups to ban as many guns as possible. Massacres are thus easily used by such persons to whip up citizen frenzy, making it possible for the politicians to pass unpopular legislation that has little or nothing to do with the shootings themselves.

I couldn't agree more with the above. I'd add that it will do nothing to stop them and will only affect the law abiding, but that should be common sense to all by now.

It disgusts me that politicians want to use the deaths of children to push their agenda instead of trying to find actual helpful solutions.

I agree, but neither of us are shocked.

Nope, and that's sad.

BTW, my post should have read - It disgusts me that politicians want to use the deaths of children to push their agenda instead of trying to find actual helpful solutions.

Not sure why I left a couple words out...early morning posting I guess.

I got your back. :D

Remember that Obama and Valerie Jarrett were both long term board members of the Joyce Foundation.

This subject is not going away.

Awesome...dumb and dumber (when it comes to guns) trampling on the 2nd amendment. I doubt they understand the public outcry that will ensue if they pull something like this.

So according to that article, saving lives is worth giving up rights. Why then was anyone ever willing to give up their lives to obtain those rights in the first place? We have unethical morons for leaders who are more concerned about their agendas than they are with their responsibilities.

Which part of the Executive Order (the one that hasn't been released or spelled out yet) tramples on the second amendment? Is it your contention that there is NO executive order that wouldn't trample on the second amendment? Is it you contention that there is NO legislation that wouldn't trample on the second amendment? I think Justice Scalia might disagree with that position.

Here you go. A WaPo article.

Twelve facts about guns and mass shootings in the United States

The conclusions:

1. Shooting sprees are not rare in the United States.

2. 15 of the 25 worst mass shootings in the last 50 years took place in the United States.

4. Of the 11 deadliest shootings in the US, five have happened from 2007 onward.

5. America is an unusually violent country. But we’re not as violent as we used to be.

6. The South is the most violent region in the United States.

7. Gun ownership in the United States is declining overall.

8. More guns tend to mean more homicide.

9. States with stricter gun control laws have fewer deaths from gun-related violence.

...

12. Shootings don’t tend to substantially affect views on gun control.

The part that says Executive Order as in not voted on.

It's my contention that, if you've been paying attention, a ban isn't going to stop the problem. It's my contention that the president and congress need to sit down and look at honest, viable, real solutions. It's my contention that we don't use a simple, feel good, band-aid fix that will solve nothing and keep no one safe and instead find out what's causing people to do these things and figure out how to make people (especially kids) safe.

Not too worried about this "potential" executive order. The public outcry and all the legal trouble that it will stir will take care of things.
