January 10, 201313 yr Interesting conversation with several friends last night (two skipped out to an NRA meeting). A couple of these guys are sportsmen; most are not. Most just like their guns. Some have conceal/carry permits, some do not. Among the quotes - "all of my guns are unregistered", "I've got a throwaway in case I need it", along with the often-heard "I'd like to see them try", "they'd better not come to Kentucky", etc. etc. Definitely brought to mind the thread we had a while back along the lines of "What would you do if stricter gun control/bans are passed".

Yeah, there's people with that mindset. Just like there are people with the mindset of "no one should have a gun", "guns are evil and no good can come of them", "all guns should be banned". I've had conversations with people over the years and have heard these exact quotes.
January 10, 201313 yr What do you say during these conversations? Depends on the general mood. Last night one of the guys (who carries) asked if we thought he was crazy. And I'm on their side on several of the issues. For example, something came up while we were watching the evening news relative to a 50% tax on ammunition proposal. Well, I took the opportunity to say that while the sanity of the aforementioned gentleman was debatable; that particular proposal was certainly crazy. Most often I listen without adding a whole lot to the conversation. I am, after all, very uneducated with respect to guns. Heck, I don't know an MOA from an IUD.
