Another Female Teacher in Trouble

Featured Replies

Slap her on the...um...wrist and carry on. She should lose her job but that is it. She's clearly a cleat chaser.

Sucks for her husband and kids. No one will make fun of the kid for pulling a dime like that.

Not sure why all of this is always made public. I'm sure this stuff happens very often at other work places.

Really sucks for the dad and kids and the family of the woman. She'll never teach again and will soon be divorced.

You think that at other work places adults routinely sleep with minors?

Since most retail, restaurants, etc have 16 and 17 year olds that work there I would say yes, but not routinely.

My point is that its only made public when it is a teacher but I would guarantee it happens just as much at other work establishments.

Well, we are mandated to send our teenagers to school. We assume some form of decency when we do. I'd say it's a big deal.

I'm not saying its not a big deal. I'm saying the media publicity of it is too much. If a manger at McDonald's has sex with a 17 year old worker is it broadcasted over the news or make major headlines? No.

It wouldn't be illegal for the manager of McDonalds to have sex with a 17 year old in KY.

I didn't say Kentucky did I?

I am solely talking about media attention. This happens all over the place in different occupations, but it seems as if the only one that shows up on headlines is when it's a teacher and student.

That is all I'm saying.

This seems to happen much more often with female than male teachers, I wonder why.

In South Carolina where this happened it isn't against the law for a 16 or 17 year old to sleep with an adult. It is against the law for a teacher to sleep with a 16 or 17 year old student. I understand your point but teachers shouldn't be sleeping with their students and it will always make the news. I'd rather discuss how male teachers are always looked down upon for sleeping with 16 or 17 year old girls but the women aren't scolded like the men are.

Teachers are held to a higher moral standard than say your McDonald's manager who is doing the same thing.

So, I guess the "you want some fries with that shake" joke would be tasteless about now, huh?
