January 8, 201313 yr This seems to happen much more often with female than male teachers, I wonder why. Good question.
January 8, 201313 yr I didn't say Kentucky did I? I am solely talking about media attention. This happens all over the place in different occupations, but it seems as if the only one that shows up on headlines is when it's a teacher and student. That is all I'm saying. Why are you being so defensive? I didn't say you said Kentucky, but I'm sure other states are similar in that it wouldn't be illegal. Regardless of age it's usually illegal for a teacher to have sex with one of their students. If its not illegal why would the media care?
January 8, 201313 yr This seems to happen much more often with female than male teachers, I wonder why. I hate to speculate on something like this, but I would guess that a male teacher has a hightened awareness that even the appearance of impropriety with a student will cost him his job. I don't know that those consequences are as ingrained into female teachers as they are in men. Then again, it could be that they only become national stories when it's a female because that's oddly appealing to media consumers. When it's a man, it's a local story; he loses his job and moves to another state. It could well happen more with men.

January 8, 201313 yr In my young single days, I shared a house with two guys who were both teachers. And both were having relationships with students. (They both later married the girls.) Not making any judgements, just stating a couple of data points. In one case, the parents were aware of the relationship.
