Henry Clay travels to Scott County 1/4 for a battle of the top 2 teams in the 42nd District. Henry Clay beat the Cardinals 77-67 in the finals of the Woodford County Invitational before Christmas in game the Devils jumped on top 13-0 and never led by less than 5 the rest of the way.

Henry Clay (12-1) comes into the contest on a 10-game winning streak, including a come from behind win over Lexington Catholic in the finals of the Republic Bank Classic. Jordan Green was MVP of both Christmas tournaments Henry Clay played in and is in top form. He scored 23 last time against Scott County. Point guard Christen Cunningham led the way for the Devils in the last meeting with 27 points and slowing him down this time will be the key to the Cardinals turning the tables.

Scott County (10-4) completed a 4th place finish in the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, SC, a strong showing by the Cardinals. Senior point guard Quin Richardson missed the semifinal loss to Whitney Young, but returned in the 3rd place game and will need to top his 19-point average in this one. Trent Gilbert struggled shooting the ball in Myrtle Beach, but has had a good start to the season with a 19 ppg average . His shooting in second quarter the last time against Henry Clay kept the Cardinals within striking distance. Scott County needs senior wing Jalen Haddix to provide a third scorer in this one, as Richardson (23) and Gilbert (21) combined for 2/3 of the points last time.

Henry Clay's height and athleticism on the inside gave the Cardinals fits last time, as well as the Devils full court pressure. If Scott County can handle the pressure and hold their own on the glass (Henry Clay won the rebounding battle 43-30 last time), look for this to go down to the wire.

This game is huge in the district standings for both teams as they try to avoid a first-round matchup with Bryan Station. The No. 1 seed is likely to play Sayre, a much easier road to the 11th Region tournament.

I expect a war. SC cannot be happy about the last time they played. The winner gets the inside track on the #1 seed for the district tournament which is imperative in this district. Is it on radio or the internet?

Hicks has commented that the team was embarrassed by their showing the last time around, which fueled their fire in the Beach Ball. Henry Clay is every bit as athletic as any team in the state. Maybe the most from top to bottom. Game will be a war. I'll say the home team in a VERY close one. 70-68 SCHS.

Also I think the game will be on WLAP radio station in Lexington. I think its the Meijer game of the week.
