I am not saying Lee is not the best team in the district, but Owsley will be much improved Big Cat 44 Lee is always good. Owsley has the best talent right now that they have had for years. I just hope they can put the talent to use.

 

Well...thats why I want to see it to believe it, Owsley has talent but what they do with it remains to be unseen. I think Lee is always good simply because Coach Combs coaches them to be good.

All I have to say to you is come watch. Yea coach Combs is a good coach in my opinion most likely the best in the 14th region so why wouldn't he coach them to be good.

Owsley County really has some good talent and 2 freshman that could see alot of playing time this year. Heck, 1 freshman bought took Jason Bowling yard at pratice the other night.

It was a intersquad scrimmage game, and I would only allow them to throw fastballs. ANyone can hit an 80 plus fastball out of the park, all you have to do is make contact with it!

i disagree if that was the case we would see a homerun in almost every high school game instead of them being a rarity....no trust me from my experience if a freshmen can hit something like that then it is special...and i do agree with you to an extent...if you know exactly what is coming then it does make the game a lot easier

Powell lost A LOT last year, all around. Owsley is still young, with the exception of Smith. But with a young new coach could possibly suprise some people this year. Still think it will be a couple of years to build the program back up.

Still young? A couple of years to build this program back up? I dont think Owsley has ever had a baseball program due to the love of their little basketball team. I talked to an Owlsley player the other day and he said since he has being in high school, the Owsley County School system has done absolutely nothing to help this program. He also said that some of their staff, drive vehicles across their outfield to get to a greenhouse or something. I think this is ridiculous how a school only supports one sport (basketball) that has only had a couple of people receive actual scholarships to play collegiate ball. Well... actually, i can only think of one. IMO i feel Owsley should have their best team ever this year. If they dont win anything this year, it will definently be more than a couple of years to build this program. Besides, if their new coach is going to build the program, he might as well take over the little league system too. From what i heard, it is ridiculous too.

I slipped over and watched an Owsley practise the other day and reported some information to a old college coach of mine, and i will tell you this, Owsley's freshmens will be lucky to play on the JV. Bowling wasnt there for some reason, but Smith looks extremely smooth at short, and i watched him take some BP. He hammered 5 or 6 out of the ball park. They also had some little lefthanded batter pouncing the ball over the fence too, dont know who he was. Owsley looked pretty solid defensively, only noticed a couple of the batters that really stood out.

That's a pretty good scouting report! You didn't get to see Trey Congleton, Jason Bowling, Dustin Wilson, or Jeremy Pierson. He is right, Robert was killing the ball, and the left hander was none other than Daniel Neeley. Who needs a gym, when you can play baseball as well as Daniel Neeley, and Robert Smith. That puts pitcher's in a small predicament..who to pitch to. Good luck!
