And just for the record, the Freshman that hit the ball to the warning track in right field was Jordan Hardy. Jordan can hit the ball well, when he gets a little stronger, he will become a very productive ball player. You also have Kyle Bobrowski who is a pretty good Freshman player. Both will help Owsley Co baseball for the next 3 years.

My grandpa played for the st louis browns (cardinals) and I...I was one of the best waterboys in the mountains!!!!! So there. You did not know... but now you do!!!!. I talked to an Owlsley player the other day and he said since he has being in high school, the Owsley County School system has done absolutely nothing to help this program. He also said that some of their staff, drive vehicles across their outfield to get to a greenhouse or something. I think this is ridiculous how a school only supports one sport (basketball) that has only had a couple of people receive actual scholarships to play collegiate ball. Well... actually, i can only think of one. IMO i feel Owsley should have their best team ever this year. If they dont win anything this year, it will definently be more than a couple of years to build this program. Besides, if their new coach is going to build the program, he might as well take over the little league system too. From what i heard, it is ridiculous too.

Owsley has not been famous for its baseball program over the years, but the Owls have won 5 district championships that I know of-----1975, 1976, 1994, 1995, and 1997.

I have to disagree with your statement. I was a member of Owsley Counties last two district championship teams. At that time Owsley was a very competitive team under the leadership of Coach Tim Bobrowski. The future is looking good for Owsley County Baseball.

Owsley has had more than one player get a scholarship to play collegiate baseball they also had a great player by the name of Darren Hardy get a scholarship to play collegiate baseball for Gene Combs when he coach college ball.

I am hearing a lot about Owsley's new coach and how much he can improve this Owsley team. What is their schedule like? Do they have any scrimmages soon?

 

I thought Cliff Green had moved up to the head coaching job. He has been with the baseball team for several years?

Clif Green is a coach but this new guy has brought a lot of new drills and put a lot of life into the team. Clif has tried to keep the baseball program going at Owsley he would be the first to tell you that he loves the game and hopes the new life brought to this team by the other two new coachs keeps things going this season. It is a combined effort.

Owsley Counties baseball team can be as good as "they" want to be. Everyone knows it takes a lot of mental toughness to be a champion in baseball. I see the fire in their eyes this year, and hopefully it will stay with them through the season. Owsley does have talent, and they will surprise a few tams this year!

Indeed. Owsley won 3 district baseball titles in 4 years in the mid-'90's under Tim Bobrowski.
