I was at the game and didn't see anything like what you described occur at all.

What I did see was when the ref called the wrong BC pplayer for a foul and the coaches had a serious wuesstion with the bad decision by the ref giving gthee foul to the wrong player and some Highlands Fans getting a little out of control yelling at the BC coaches, which if I were one of the coaches I might have said something too but I didn't hear it myself from my vantage point.

 

As far as the officiating goes, I heard nothing but goodd things from the 3 female officials, I wish they ccould do all the games in this tournament because the male officials have been horrible.

There was a call that left everyone scratching their heads in the BC game against tthis evening when a BC player was going to the free throw line and when she got the ball from the ref she put her toe on the line, didn't start to take her foul shot or anythiing yet, and the official called her for a lane violation. Never seen anything like that before. Doessn't a player get a chance to set up for her free throw before taking it? It was the oddest thing i've ever seen. She didn't even geet to attempt the free throw, the ball was immediatley given to the other team.

 

Now as far as the game goes, BC does have something they need to address and that is their free throws. Cost them the game with the number of misses and could be a big problem once the playoffs start.

 

I believe the rule is once they take possession of the ball they cannot cross the line. Someone correct me if I am wrong on that.

Ohhhhh, I think you are so wrong Coach. I think what has happened to this thread is someone is scratching the surface as to why this thread even went to where to where we are right now.

 

I just think the man is exposing some things that some people just dont want to admit and talk about...

For a tome pit for boone but coach fookes did not call a time out amd she was arguing

that they did not call a time out when some ignorant fans started yelling for her to sit down and shut up

The one thing i can say is Nell takes alot abuse from fans of other teams and we parents will defemd her

to the max. As far as cursing i have heard alot of coaches cusing from alot of schools until you coach dont judge

I know that I have, as a spectator, said things I have regretted. Don't believe to a coach but definitely to opposing fans. Emotions run high in competitive situations.

There should be more coaches like you that make a conscience effort to not say things they'll regret to their players.

 

Btw, told my girl yesterday she better watch out for your daughter on those rebounds coming from behind like a flying monkey out of no where! Haley had a great game and she's always a pleasure to watch.

Most all of the things I would point out would be against the rules here but I know a lot more than you think.

 

Without going into a long-winded explanation Boone County is like a lot of public schools in that many of their successes can be directly attributed to happenstance.

 

With all that said, I am not saying there are not a lot of good students, good teachers and some good coaches. What I am saying is there is far too little discipline at Boone in several areas.

 

Now Guru, you do realize that in comparison to other BC schools, Boone does serve a disadvantaged population. Their percentage of free and reduced lunch students is quite high. That being said, if Boone is so awful, why is your son still there?

I can't speak for Guru, but maybe he is loyal to the feeder program and the coaches that have invested so much into his child, unlike.... well ... well those kids SK kids who end up elsewhere and those kids from other feeder systems who ended up at SK. :jump:

Wow! That's the best compliment she could ever get! Thank you! We've had many "driving home" conversations about heart (as I'm sure all parents with competitive girl athletes have had). Good to see some of the "discussions" are paying off!

I agree with RCC9. You can defend her all you want that doesn't mean she's right. I respect Nell's knowlege of the game. I do not respect her as a person or a role model for student athletes. Theres no judging going on here. She says the F word on a regular basis around her players. I've heard it many on here have heard it. There is no place for it under any circumstance. And I do coach and where your heart as a coach is often comes through with what your mouth says during games. A coach that would use the F Word reguarly around High School Players is a it's about me coach rather than a it's about the kids and making them better players but more importantly better people. Like RCC9 said also when it comes to coaching I'm hard core as well as far as demanding that kids play hard learn from there mistakes and play with heart. But never would I look a kid in the face in the huddle and drop a F-Bomb in there face.

I have experienced many dedicated, committed educators in both of the schools you have cited. Boone's district was gerrymandered to include many undeserved populations and they often get blame for issues that have origin in the family.

I would and I will say I have certainly heard it from Varsity Boys coaches as well. There is just no place for it in High School Athletics. I think your probably right in that when it's male coaches to male players to some it's somehow not as bad. I'm not saying coaches should be perfect and I understand sometimes the game can get the better of you but cursing at players is never acceptable and when I here it happen it tells me all I need to know about a coach.

Do your homework before you stick your foot in your mouth! Boone does not have a feeder system!
