i have seen highlands fans and coaches berate the refs for 4 qts and yes i do come from ft thomas

 

I know who you are. Are those fans paid administrators or are they fans. . Never said it was okay or that hhas fans don't get on refs. Show me a fan base that doesn't get on refs at some point. We're talking about a paid coach telling a fan/spectator to shut up. Are you defending that?

all im saying is the people in glass houses please cast the first stone it wrong for a coach to say something to the stands but what was said to the coach is important also ie family dont know but dont put the hhs fan base as saint either

I will tell you this much, there should have been a mandatory attendance today during the HHS vs Southwestern game for ALL NKY referees as the 3 Women Ref crew of Lori Edgington, Jenny Mertle and another unknown put an absolute clinic on as to how to referee Girls Basketball.

 

These three did one heck of a job allowing the game to be played between Student/Athletes, kept the game under control, took no crap and at times you really didnt even know these refs were on the floor. That is how it should be, about the kids and not the coaches or referees. Just sayin...

Fangman and knollman were two of them. Didn't know the third. He was good though. They were all okay. Calls on both sides were questionable like any game. They did a fine job. I just think folks are fed up with the show at Boone and watching them try to intimidate the officials. None of the calls warranted the constant bantering. The refs seemed to handle it okay. Personally, I don't think she did or said anything outside the rules, but I wouldn't coach like that. I teach my players to worry about the things we can control. Typically that's not the officials and sometimes you need to play through what you might think was a bad call. I guess in her mind, she thinks she can control the refs. To me, that's not a good lesson to teach. But to each their own.

The "unknown" was most likely Kim Webb. Strong official.

It wasn't the tall girl that I have seen before (which i also consider a good official) I wasn't familiar with this lady, but her and all of them did a nice job!

 

I think all our officials do a nice job and seem to care about the game. Yes, they have good and bad nights, but I personally think we have a pretty good group right now.

HHS always are yelling at coaches and players so ot is no surprise to me

Hearing they were yelling at tue BC coaches. The way i know it is the ref called

For a tome pit for boone but coach fookes did not call a time out amd she was arguing

that they did not call a time out when some ignorant fans started yelling for her to sit down and shut up

The one thing i can say is Nell takes alot abuse from fans of other teams and we parents will defemd her

to the max. As far as cursing i have heard alot of coaches cusing from alot of schools until you coach dont judge

Birds gutted this one out at the end. Great effort and it was good to see the Birds win a close one.

 

Saw something today that is troubling if you a BC administrator. The BC coaches erupted after a call (dont know why) and were basically headed to mid-court to argue and a fan from the stands shouted to sit down and the man coach yelled back at the fan to "shut up". :eek:

 

Didnt this same coach go into the stands last yr after a fan?

 

I believe some of these coaches have forgotten why they are in the positions they are in. They should be leading and setting good examples for our young student/athletes. JMO

What I did see was when the ref called the wrong BC pplayer for a foul and the coaches had a serious wuesstion with the bad decision by the ref giving gthee foul to the wrong player and some Highlands Fans getting a little out of control yelling at the BC coaches, which if I were one of the coaches I might have said something too but I didn't hear it myself from my vantage point.

 

As far as the officiating goes, I heard nothing but goodd things from the 3 female officials, I wish they ccould do all the games in this tournament because the male officials have been horrible.

There was a call that left everyone scratching their heads in the BC game against tthis evening when a BC player was going to the free throw line and when she got the ball from the ref she put her toe on the line, didn't start to take her foul shot or anythiing yet, and the official called her for a lane violation. Never seen anything like that before. Doessn't a player get a chance to set up for her free throw before taking it? It was the oddest thing i've ever seen. She didn't even geet to attempt the free throw, the ball was immediatley given to the other team.

 

 

Now as far as the game goes, BC does have something they need to address and that is their free throws. Cost them the game with the number of misses and could be a big problem once the playoffs start.

In my opinion Boone County lacks discipline is almost all areas, the sports teams, the cheer squads, the teachers, etc. I know the Boone Principal reads BGP on occasion and I would tell him the same thing if he asked my opinion.

 

In short, pretty much everyone does whatever they want to do at Boone with little or no consequences.

You may not of seen it, but it absolutely happened. The male coach yelled across the floor to a fan and told him to shut up. You can't make that up! And why would we??

 

I agree that fans should not yell at the coaches. But here is what I saw. I saw the BC staff constantly questioning calls and pulling shenanigans in what appeared to an attempt to see how much they could get away with. It wasn't one call, it was several. Heck, even in this post there are two to three different opinions on "which" play they were arguing. (The time out call, Incorrect player on the foul, etc) That's because it was the whole game. Eventually a highlands fan yelled something to the effect of "sit her down! You don't have to take that! It's rediculous!" In which the male BC coach replied with "shut up!" From across the court. That's what happened!

 

I am a highlands fan and could agree both were wrong, but please don't defend BC coaches and act like it didn't happen. It's really getting out of proportion on here, but it wasn't a classy act from a coach.

 

Heck, everyone is assuming it was a HHS fan that said it. Are we sure it just wasn't someone else that was fed up with the shenanigans? There were tons of CCHS fans that were there by the time this happened.

I know that BC played after Highlands today and before I left I didnt see the man coach for BC there so perhaps their were some consequences or maybe he had something more important to do tonite.
