Does anyone have an Intermural program that has been valuable to their High School Basketball program?

seeing what happened to UC this year...it would be like having an organized "reserve" pool to pick from. A couple years ago Coach Messmer plucked FB tackle Sean Sester from the student body to add height and bulk to the team (6'7" / 250+). Had he been playing intramurals and keeping his game sharp...he may have been a more valuable contributor. Plus it gives kids who love the game an outlet to play as well as develop!

2002 at HC year after I graduated it was arguable the intramural allstars had more talent than the varsity squad.

Harrison County doesn't even offer an intramural program for Middle School and has never had anything like that for High School. Guess what? It shows!!!!!!!!

It's arguable of course. But Brett's height and speed is unmatched.

 

I know Brett well, he is a player. But if you've seen TJ play then you know that its not arguable. Not even close. TJ is possibly the best player in the region. Brett could have played this year and he wouldn't have been a top 20 player in the region.

Todd would have a tough time scoring if Brett was on him however. The only thing TJ has over Brett is an outside shot.

Senior--6'2-3", probably about 190+. Great safety/DB in football, jumps out of the gym, multiple time defending regional high jump champion. One of the key players on NKY Rockets along with current CCH players Mike Young, Danny Noll, Joe Landrum, Tim Tierney, and TJ at times. They had a significant amount of success at the state and national levels in AAU, etc. Certainly could contribute and give them some inside toughness they might be lacking. I'd argue that he would be a top 20 player in the region!!

 

You'd have to ask him why he's not playing, but its probably got something to do with his early concentration on football and track, and not devoting himself totally to basketball!! Was a "can't miss" prospect, if there is such a thing in high school, coming out of St. Pius!!

There's no doubt he'd be top 20 in the region! He reminds me of a Greg Rice but handles the ball much better. He'd create many matchup problems for teams around the 9th (with the exception of holmes of course) if he was playing for CCH.

Did Hieghts use some former intrm. players on that team? I wonder in general if anyone has improved their program by adding Intr basketball?

Yep. However, it wasn't necessarily used to improve their program.

Of course right now they are not close at all. But with Brett's natural athleticism and work ethic that we have seen in football and track, he would be tough to stop for anyone.
