Hatton with 11 points on 4-16 shooting. Didn't play most of the 4th because of what appeared to be a sprained ankle.

Big win for Mason County in what is supposed to be a re-building year, and another head scratching loss for Dixie Heights.

Dixie goes as Hatton goes and if he is not shooting well and not playing down the stretch you got a great chance to beat em.

I've expected more from the Red Colonels this season. After a season opening 2 point loss to NCC, the 14 point loss to Conner, and now a road loss to a supposedly re-building Mason County team seems to have Dixie headed in the wrong direction. Maybe they are a one-trick pony show, and the pony only had 11 and sat out part of the game with a sprained ankle, OR perhaps I grossly underestimate the Royals which is not a very smart thing to do.

I'll stick with my statement that this one is a bit head-scratching, as was the margin of the Conner loss.

Hatton sitting certainly hurt the cause but ti sounds like MC did a nice job defensively on him. As I said in the Conner/Dixie thread someone from Dixie has to be a #2 option for nights Brandon is off. He's not superman. They're just OK. Not great. Not bad. Just OK.

As I said from Conner/Dixie game, Dixie sat their 2 bigs and had guards trying to cover Barker. Rebounding that game was 35-17.

 

I wasn't at last night's game, but it sounds like Hatton will NOT play tonight, so we'll see how good the boys are without him.

 

I will say that I know the Soph class is frustrated because they are so used to playing team ball and have scorers who are not allowed to play their normal game. I guess they will get their chance to shine or get whupped tonight. (And maybe even down in Lex next week)

Hatton IMO tries to do to much and when he makes a move to the basket look for teammates for a change instead of to split three defenders. The bigs are going to be needed tonight with as you said the sophmores find some confidence for the long haul. Should be interesting to see how substitutions plat in game tonight.

Funny thing from the Dixie/Highlands game when Hatton got fouled jumping and making an attempted shot that looked like a hard pass to someone down low. He pleaded with the ref that he was shooting and not passing. His words went something like this...."Dont you understand, I dont pass !!!" LOL

 

Hard to argue not running your offense through Hatton though, he is the best up here.
