Love them all and more of them! Give me a Vegas Christmas!

I think all Christmas decorations are fantastic. I don't care what they look like. They represent joy and happiness. Doesn't matter if it is the most elegant decorations you've ever seen or the biggest hodge podge of unmatching stuff.

 

My favorite house is right up the road from me. It's an older couple I know, with 3 grown kids and 6 grand kids. They go out after Christmas every year and buy a bunch of sale decorations to add to the collection. There is hardly a square foot of yard or house that doesn't have some thing on it.

 

Their kids and grand kids come every Thanksgiving. They spend the weekend together as a family decorating and having fun. That to me is what it's all about.

 

My middle son once said, "It looks like someone vomitted Christmas on their yard. I love it." It doesn't get any better.

 

I agree!! Our 5-yr-old does not care about a theme, if they match, if it's too much, etc. His face glows in awe at any house that is lit up. He is like the SNL "More Cow Bells", skit. "More lights, please!"

I'm guilty of #5 and #3, two top 5 violations! I personally think my three inflatables (Santa, Renindeer and snowman) look awesome. The tacky lighting I may concede but it's up and not getting undecorated this year.

 

For the folks in the Central Campbell county area I'm sure I can speak for everyone and say I really miss the Fessler's display, my family used to drive by a couple of times every Christmas season.

What do you think about when lights on a house are set to Christmas music?

Wow, blue christmas lights don't make your top 15? Not a Highlands jab:cool:, just can't stand a house decorated with all blue lights.

I actually was going to include that one, but didn't think anyone would agree. Saw a 30-40 foot tree the other day, done all in blue. And it looked like they had dropped the lights on it from a passing C-130. I mean, if you're going to decorate a ginormous tree outside your house, you might as well pay to have it done right.

I miss the life-sized nativity scene on Grand Avenue. Anyone remember that? We used to stop there and get the hay for our own manger every year.

None of those things really bother me at all. All decorations come with their own measure of tacky, it is just a matter of degree.

 

The one thing that I always shake my head at is when you see a nice nativity scene, and then right next to it you see Santa and Frosty have come to visit the Christ child's birth. At least separate them to opposite sides of the yard.
