I kept hearing about Pendleton County and how good they were from people I know who live there. I witnessed it myself last night. I had seen Bishop Brossart play already and knew they were good. Folks, Pendleton Co. is clearly the best team in Northern Ky. They have crushed Holmes, beat a good Bishop Brossart team twice this year. They have as good a starting five as you will find. Good guards, good inside people and a great coach and a strong devoted fan base. Hats off to Pendleton Co. and their whole fan base. Very Impressive.

I heard their coach is a Cov Cath grad, does anyone know when he graduated from CCH?

A funny thing happened on the way to the forum - the game did NOT sell out. Fans were lined up as early as 4pm which assured them a great seat for the JV game and a look at the Mustang Freshmen practice when the doors opened at 5pm, but the game never sold out. You could have walked up and gotten in to the game at scheduled start up time at 7:30pm.

I'm sure all of the sell-out hype did scare many folks away and our webcast probably kept some folks home listening over the web.

I think the pre-sale at both schools also helped. Pendleton County only sold 187 of their alloted 200 pre-sale tickets and the closed-circuit big-screen venue set up in Hegenauer Hall drew one viewer - Brossart Booster President Tom Ware!

Sooo, all of the added security, staff, and institution of multiple gates etc administrated a large crowd, but NOT a sell-out. There were empty spaces on the PC far end and also behind the PCo bench.

 

The Mustangs have two potential large crowds when Mason County and CovCath comes to call, but the decision has already been made that those games will stay put in the SyDome.

 

While moving the PCo game to a larger venue would have certainly accommodated more fans, it would have been impossible to duplicate the electricity of the atmosphere of last night's game here on the Avenue of Champions. I'm sure that anyone in attendance will agree.

 

Just wanted to apologize for some of my assanine comments the other day about you guys not being prepared for this game. They were purely selfish comments on my part because I wanted to see the game so bad and had been looking forward to seeing it. What a great environment. What Bishop Brossart did before the game recognizing the young men from the different armed forces was awesome. Great job, great environment, a job well done. Again sorry for the stupid comments.

I'd like to echo the GREAT ATMOSPHERE comments!! This is what High School Basketball in Kentucky is all about!! I'm so glad it didn't work out to move the game. Congrats to the Wildcats on a hard fought victory, and to the Mustangs for a great show.

 

I couldn't help but notice the good sportsmanship and mutual respect among the players and coaches after the game, as they exchanged handshakes, hugs, etc. Good show by all!!

 

Best of luck to PC on their way to the regionals, and keep doing the 10th region proud (Can't help but notice that game vs. the 15-1, 9th region power Highland's Bluebirds looming in the future). Time for the Mustangs to refocus, put this game behind them; and take care of business in the All "A" regionals, and then go make some noise in Richmond!! It's about time for that title to returns to NKY!!

You are right - but then you run the risk of upsetting a lot of folks who don't get in, establish a hostile environment and create a lot of bad blood. Last night we probably traded off a few bucks to avoid the negative repercussions.

I'm pretty sure Coach Biggs graduated from CovCath in 1987. But definitely around that time period.

Frosh Coach Jon Wirth, I don't believe is a Beechwood grad but know he is a KCC (KCU now) grad. Unfortunately, the biggest defect of Coach Wirth is that he is a UNC fan.

 

The frosh coach from last year, I believe, was a Beechwood grad.
