I like A Christmas Story for many reasons. Here are 2:

 

1) My childhood pictures look like Ralphie.

 

2) I also wanted a BB gun. This movie has a happy Hollywood ending: Ralphie got his BB gun. I, on the other hand, never got one and have been emotionally scarred ever since.

For the record the "Mr. Parker" played by Darrin Mcgavin, and Randy Parker's father...very few similarities.
