I think this game will be closer than a lot are thinking. With that said, I think the Tide probably takes it.

Notre Dame has won a few national titles by the strength of their media popularity. The AP pretty much determined the national champs for most of college football's history.

In 1966 Alabama was undefeated. Notre Dame was also undefeated, but had one tie, against Michigan State. Michigan State was also undefeated with just the one tie game with the Irish. The media voters still awarded Notre Dame the national title. Alabama should have been # 1 that year IMO.

I think this game will be closer than a lot are thinking. With that said, I think the Tide probably takes it.

 

I get the impression that most people do think it will be a close game, given the two defenses involved.
