Exactly. I really feel some similarities between this Notre Dame team and some of the unbeaten Ohio State teams in recent years.

 

This isn't even the best Alabama team in recent years and I feel like they're just going to stifle the Irish. I hope it's a good game... I just don't see it happening.

I'm thinking the ND defense is good enough to stifle Bama's offense and keep it an interesting game. However, what Bama did the Georgia's defense sure makes me second guess myself.

Did those teams have the D ND does? I don't know that. But past teams winning championships has little to do with what this Alabama team is going to do. I just think people hate the fact that the crystal football has a very good chance of leaving the SEC. It's a lot closer than some posters want to/actually believe in this match up.

You're not going to find many people around here with less love for the SEC's hegemonic dominance over college football than me. That doesn't change the fact that it exists. Notre Dame might win the game, but it'll be in spite of significant indicators that they shouldn't have.

I disagree just bc they have shown that they can matchup with a pro offense like Stanford, and a prolific spread like OU. Those OSU teams played nobody during the season. In 06, their top win was over a Texas team starting a true Freshman, and a Michigan team who had feasted on terrible teams. ND is battle tested. Defensively this isn't last years Alabama, but they may be better offensively

I just think that logic is flawed. There are so many other components that go in to this than being from the SEC. So say UK, or any other awful SEC team, was 11-1/12-0 -- Just because they are from the SEC that makes them the favorite? I think this argument has more to do with the individual team than the conference they come from.
