The one fumble (IMHO the death play for CovCath) to start the 3rd quarter had nothing to do with HHS "D". If you remember the score was 14-7 and CovCath had the ball starting the 3rd quarter when (if I am not mistaken) on the 1st play, the snap was high and it upset the timing of the play causing Bir to miss the hand off to Bir. HHS then went on to score making it a 14 point lead.

 

The one fumble by Bir that was recovered by CovCath #51 was indeed a major hit on Bir by a HHS player.

 

I still believe the fumble late in the game by #87 wasn't a fumble but a incomplete pass as the kid through my glasses dropped the ball prior to taking a step and the HHS guys in the press-box agreed with me.

 

The fumble on the attempted pass by Bir, I am going to have to wait and see the film as I couldn't tell if the arm was moving forward or not, but #82 for HHS was a man amongst boys tonight!

There wasn't as big of a crowd around the field as I expected. The first game had more people standing than last night from my vantage point.

It happened right in front of me. I think he had control. I think had they used instant replay though it would not have been ruled complete IF high school uses the same criteria as the NFL. I don't think he completed a football move. Too close to call though with the blind eye.

Two long receptions and at least one PI were the result, though the one at the end of the half was a bad call. Why does #19 never get thrown to? He ran the seam on the back side when H rolled the pocket and had steps and 7in on his defender at least 3 times in the first half.

The int that Bir threw was just a very poor decision, throw in the dropped pick six by Heck and the dropped int by Abner then the QB play had something to say about the outcome.

Or, is it because the player of game Hope on D was wrecking havoac in the backfield and had Bir scared to death throwing off his heals.

Throw in the 5 dumps and 3 loses and well...

They had a great game plan on D and I was impressed the way they continued to stop Highlands but after that their Special Team play and their Offense was lets just say not clicking.

It happens, they are just HS kids, it happens in college and in the pros and it is ok to say the much better team won this game.

I know Donavan was offense POG but I thought that Hergott was fantastic and time and time again had huge catches for 1st downs.

Sometimes a QB has a better rapport and confidence with other receivers. My guess is that's the case here.

I know what I am about to say will not bode well with the HHS fans but HHS didn't beat CovCath tonight, CovCath beat CovCath tonight. You can't turn the ball over as many times as the Colonels did and except to beat a team of the quality of HHS. You are also not going to beat a team of the caliber of HHS if you can't move the ball a yard and a half in two play.

 

#82 easily was the star of the game and indeed he was a major reason for HHS winning this game!

This was the one we couldn't figure out. From our angle in the south end zone it looked like an incomplete pass, but the Highlands defense began celebrating almost immediately. We thought it might have been an INT or a stripped pass. The eyes aren't what they once were.
