The difference in the game

I know what I am about to say will not bode well with the HHS fans but HHS didn't beat CovCath tonight, CovCath beat CovCath tonight. You can't turn the ball over as many times as the Colonels did and except to beat a team of the quality of HHS. You are also not going to beat a team of the caliber of HHS if you can't move the ball a yard and a half in two play.

 

#82 easily was the star of the game and indeed he was a major reason for HHS winning this game!

I thought the back judge was a little too quick and happy to call PI tonight. I don't remember it impacting the game but he didn't let a DB make ANY contact with the receiver without penalizing it.

Does CCH have a back coming to varsity next year that can counter the power running of Luke Bir? Any "Gabe Gray" type backs?

 

It would be nice to have the combo of power game (Bir) and a breakaway threat.

I thought just the opposite. Early on they were a bit touchy, but as the game went on, they let a few go that I really thought could have been called. There was an early one called on Highlands that was hugely justified, but another one late that had me looking for laundry, only to find no call.

The one fumble (IMHO the death play for CovCath) to start the 3rd quarter had nothing to do with HHS "D". If you remember the score was 14-7 and CovCath had the ball starting the 3rd quarter when (if I am not mistaken) on the 1st play, the snap was high and it upset the timing of the play causing Bir to miss the hand off to Bir. HHS then went on to score making it a 14 point lead.

 

The one fumble by Bir that was recovered by CovCath #51 was indeed a major hit on Bir by a HHS player.

 

I still believe the fumble late in the game by #87 wasn't a fumble but a incomplete pass as the kid through my glasses dropped the ball prior to taking a step and the HHS guys in the press-box agreed with me.

 

The fumble on the attempted pass by Bir, I am going to have to wait and see the film as I couldn't tell if the arm was moving forward or not, but #82 for HHS was a man amongst boys tonight!

My memory says it was not a major hit. I think the defender made a good play on the ball. Blake didn't go down as a result of the hit. He turned to look back if I remember correctly.

From my angle it looked like a fumble. Arm came forward without the ball.
