November 10, 201213 yr I read this article about a coal company CEO who is preparing to lay off workers and blames Obama. Coal company to lay off 156 workers in Utah, Ill.: Associated Press Business News - MSN Money In the article the CEO complains that the takers outvoted the providers in the election and because of Obama he is laying off workers. Then as I read the article it talks about how natural gas has become so cheap that power plants are choosing gas over coal; I read that this company had a safety disaster that cost him $1M in fines; he settled a criminal case that cost him $500k. So now I wonder, is Obama waging a war on coal that is causing this CEO to lay off employees or is this company losing out to gas competition and mismanagement and that is causing the layoffs? Is this CEO pointing fingers of blame and complaining just like his so called takers?
November 10, 201213 yr I'm surprised that after Obama said if you build a coal powered plant it will break you, that we even have to have the discussion if he is at war with coal.

November 11, 201213 yr By a show of hands please tell me who honestly believes that Obama is friendly to coal or any other fossil fuel.
November 11, 201213 yr Martin County coal closed. Another mine operation shut down 2 of the 3 mines they own. Jim Booth just made a huge deal with China and Addington just sold a ton of coal to India. Brilliant. I don't care who's to blame. Obama, his mama, or Osama. Still coal being mined but shipped overseas. Brilliant.
November 11, 201213 yr Obama demonizes coal to keep the environmental freaks in the fold. The EPA has made expensive to keep running coal plants - just like Obama sad they would. But natural gas is also putting pressure on coal.

November 11, 201213 yr Natural gas will eventually come under fire and the price of natural gas is going to go up in the not to distant future. Natural gas historically has traded at 1/10 the price of oil today it's about 1/40. In Europe gas natural gas is $12, in Japan it's $17. Once we perfect the liquification process and the shipping process the price will shot up. Plus, folks who drill gas wells will tell you that the EPA is really cracking down on the industry.

November 11, 201213 yr Figures show W.Va. coal jobs up under Obama* - News - The Charleston Gazette - West Virginia News and Sports - That article has been debunked by more than a few people. Hopefully I can find the articles and the Gazette is pretty Liberal leaning, especially for WV. Since Tuesday, there has been at least 1000 jobs lost, will get worse.
November 11, 201213 yr I am of the opinion that there may be an initial backlash from some of our corporate citizens to try and assert their influence. However, I also believe that in many industries, the decision will eventually be reversed because as the economy improves, there will be more demand for goods and services and there wil be a need to hire to keep up. In industries like coal, there may be additional layoffs and cut backs, but I don't think 100% can be attributed to AHCA, and companies who use that as the sole reason are deceptive in their public comments to, again, assert influence.
November 11, 201213 yr Does anyone else find it ironic that the "providers" are forcing more people into becoming the "takers" they are railing against?
