I was at a wedding where the bride's sisters sang a song that went over really well. Think it's a matter of whether they can carry a tune or not. :lol:

Maid of honor toast at my wedding was a disaster. Best man did a good job though.

On a more serious note, my recommendation is to balance seriousness & humor--but only if that humor is something the majority of the audience understands.

You've got me bested in the the total weddings category. We're tied for best mansmenship. For what it's worth, I only thought I really got the toast done well once....for my brother's wedding. And spot on about the best man's toast versus the maid of honor.

I don't think I've ever nailed it. But I've done ok each time. I keep them short and sweet so I'm not the "awkward stories".

 

Honestly, I think I've only witnessed two times it was absolutely nailed. Once was someone we all knew would be hilarious and perfect. The other was COMPLETELY out of left field. My friends little brother is insanely shy and soft-spoken. Started with his eyes glued to the page reading "good traits of the groom", after two or three it became apparent that the best man wanted it to look like the groom wrote the best man's speech due to the best man's shyness and was very braggadacious of his self. Then the best man had a "hey wait a minute" moment. It brought down the house as he played it off perfectly.
