November 7, 201213 yr Candidate much more conservative than Governor. That is the catch 22 the Republican party has to overcome. The party is too conservative for the nation and it is getting their national candidates beat. There needs to be some serious self reflection in the Republican party, especially with the shifting demographics in the electorate. George Will said that if the Republican candidate in 2020 wins the same percentages of the various demographic groups as McCain, the Republican will lose the election by 14 million votes.

The Dems and Reps must come together and get our country on track and it doesn't matter who the Pres. is. If we keep the current political party gridlocks, we are screwed.

November 7, 201213 yr Romney likely wins popular vote. Who still wants to get rid of the electoral college? I doubt it ever changes, but if it happens for a second time out of four elections, there will at least be a little more momentum. Had it been the same party losing out both times, I think the drumbeats would have been much louder.

Because both sides are 100% certain that their way is the right way and neither will give up anything. As much as the Dems want to castigate the Republicans for the gridlock we are experiencing they have their collective heads in their nether regions if they really don't believe they bear some blame for it. When did they EVER they to work with Republicans? What did the Dems ever give-up as a compromise? We have 4 more years of gridlock coming, and I'm terrified, a lame duck president who is going to be more concerned about pushing his policies down our collective throats then he is about what is actually good for the country.
