It's the Camp Co schools rec league. He's only in the second grade and just likes playing with his school buddies. In the camp co league, they try to keep kids from the same schools on the same team. So yes, he is excels in bball, but still a second grader at heart. The coaches contain him pretty well and he is a great kid. He does a lot of passing and tries to get the other kids involved too. I can't remember his name, but he comes from a very athletic family.

 

I've seen a lot of kids that are "all world" in the 2nd/3rd grade but end up average come high school years. Don't get too excited.

My daughter is in kindergarten and has a tight handle from being dragged to 150 + big brother games and practices over the yrs. She told me she's done with hoops though after one yr of YMCA ball. She said she didnt really like the color of her shirt last year. I Couldnt stop laughing. Priceless.

No reason for me to be excited...he kills us! Just telling you the kid is good and will be good. No question. He's fun to watch.

A little late time wise for this discussion, but I've got a kid that plays on Sheppards team and they have picked up a 2nd grader who stands over 5 foot and is the best ball handler I've ever saw at this age. He should dominate the 2nd grade and if what the kids mother told me was correct, he recently played in a KBA 4th grade league and was the best there. Just my point of view but probably as good any kid Sheppards got. Look out......

Expect another great year from Woodland's 8th grade team. Expect big things out of the big 3 in Nelson Perrin? LJ Miller, and Jacob Pouncy...and yes another Pouncy :lol2:

In the 5th Grade Division at KBA today NKy Thunder won both of their games. They beat a LexCath team by 4 and the Playmakers by 22..The Playmakers are Jeff Shepard's (UK) Organization..

No he plays for the KY Bulls.. They are a very good DI AAU team.. Scotty is probably the 4th option on that team..Bulls were down there also and I am pretty sure they won both of their games..

The playmakers do not have a 5th grade team, that was his 3rd/4th graders playing up. Also his 2nd grade "A team" played up in the 3rd grade. There were some very good players there.

Sticking with the Middle School thread. Here are some results.

 

Highlands 7th grade jumped out big on St. Pius last Thursday night but the Panthers cut into the lead in the 2nd half on some big 3's and strong play by Thelen. Birds won 44-38.

 

Highlands 7th grade defeated IHM last night 50-46. Tight game throughout until the 4th qtr when Birds pulled away. It was a 1 pt game with 50 seconds left but some big steals and FT's sealed it. The Coldiron kid from IHM is a player and has very nice size.

 

Highlands 7th goes to 3-0 on the season winning tonight on the road over Conner. I think they won by 6 or 8 points. Tight game until 4th qtr once again for the Birds.

The Highlands / IHM game was a very good, clean and hard fought game. Highlands is very deep and well balanced. They should have a very solid year. Their 3 wins are against pretty good teams.

 

It does seem that for the most part the 7th grade league is pretty evenly matched.

The playmaker "grey" team was his 4th graders. They were 2-0 as was the thunder. The white team you guys beat by 22 was his 3rd grade "A" squad with 2 fourth graders playing on them. Not taking away anything though, you guys have a very good team as well. I wish that Shepherd would play his kids in the grades they belong so they would be more competitive. Got another tourney at KBA on Dec 7th-maybe see you there "raiderbird" and good luck with the rest of the year.

Last night the playmakers 3rd grade team(1 2nd grader) beat the Whitley county central team 50-3 and the 4th graders(a couple 3rd graders played)beat Whitley 45-18. The Playmakers are going to tourney in Knoxville next weekend. Updates to follow.
