Good deal, the 6th and 7th grade groups are playing solid ball, what is the story with the 8th grade team? Lose by 30 pts ? Ouch

8th was dn 12 at the end of the 3rd and it was all subs in the 4th. Birds didn't score in the last frame. 7th avenged a 39-7 loss last season at Conner & won by 8 after Conner tied the score at 31 mid way through the 3rd and it was back and forth the rest of the way. HMS took the lead for good with a minute and a half to play on a layup from New.

So what was the key in the turnaround from last year, the coaching? or are the players that much better? Why if only down 12 would you play your bench and not score any points? Just do not get it.

It is just one good game played so I'm not sure abt a turn around, but I know that the 7th has 5 different players from last yr's team. Also, Jacob Noe has improved a bunch & with the additions of 6th man New & starting forward Sparks there is certainly a difference. The guard play of Gish, Rom, & Schoellman has gotten better/more confident.

Highlands 7th Grade Beat Conner? If so great win for the Birds.

Birds 6th grade girls are loaded but their best player Zoey Barth was moved up to the freshman team.

.

Conner won 42-19. Guard play was the difference.

A great win for that group! Hopefully it sparks the season. Not much defense being played but both squads were taking it to the rim!

In 8th grade action, Conner was long and lean and just to much size. HHS just not very deep and need a few growth spurts! IMO game was in hand, when 4th quarter action took place. Much of the scoring is coming from 3 or 4 players and each are still capable of bigger games. It is early hopefully they catch fire. 6th grade group playing well and 7th grade beat a very good team last night! As stated it was pretty tight through a half for the 8th grade but subs are struggling. Last night was a good night to let the bench finish and get minutes.

Tough to play D at a track meet :thumb:

I heard the 7th grade looked really good on Monday Night as well vs IHM. Coach Nieporte does a great job with that group. The 6th grade group has alot of talent that still needs to gel and learn to play together as a Team. I coached a group of those kids and they are Now blended with kids from other grade schools so its going to take them a handful of games before they really turn it on. Big Alex Starkey has been very impressive in the post thus far which is great to see. Probably the most improved player in that class from last season to Now. They are also well coached by Mike Herald. He is great with the kids and truly enjoys coaching them,.

Yes it was a big win considering Conner has probably the biggest 7th grader in NKY in the Walter Boy. He has to be 6'2 245 already. The Birds took it right at them, I love The aggressive play of those boys even though they are undersized. Jacob Noe has springs in his shoes and The Sparks kid is thick and battles. If they can develop their bench they can make a run and win a bunch of games.

I watched an AAU team this weekend, the Tri-State Warriors out at SOAS and they were absolutely loaded with 7th grade talent. Does anyone know where these boys play Middle School ball?

Perrin, Bell, Craddock, Miller, were just a few names I saw on the scorebook. They had blazing speed, big size and just got after it.

I think a better question is why are they playing AAU ball during the season?

Why not play both?
