Highlands @ Conner 1/19

Doesnt get much and I personally think that will come back to bite them next year but who is to say most of those Footballers on the JV team will even come back and play. With Football being a year round sport at HHS with weightlifting, spring practice, etc... you may see some fallout. With the big senior class this year and no Juniors getting any significant playing time, the Birds may take their lumps next year. Simpson and McGraw will have to carry them.

Hurtt is not in the 8 man rotation.

How many of the 8 are seniors? 6? Am I right about that? Mcgraw and Simpson the underclassmen (sophs). Foul trouble or injury will cause big problems for this kind of rotation. By working or two more players he will have more experience to fall back on if needed. If nothing else you have a couple more with experience next year.

This isn't one of Conners better teams. I think Highlands wins by 15 on the road.

This just in. ;)

HHS by 14 pts.... 64-50.. Vories 21pts, 7assists, Johnson 14pt, 10 rebounds.

This just in. ;)

OMG, I didn't know you knew how to use that thing... ;) ... :D

There's a joke or two there but I'm going to pass.

I would say that Hurtt is number 9 and Michael Eaton is number 10. Rest assured that unless someone gets hurt in the next couple of weeks Willie will not extend the bench. Remember these kids are only sophomores. When they are young next year, they will benefit from playing all of those games on their home court. The kids that really want to play basketball will be there in the summer to get their work in in addition to hitting the weights for football.

Have these two got minutes in games that were not so close? If so that is beneficial added with the JV time. While Eaton is a very good player the Hurtt by brings an intensity with his game that is unbelievable. From what I saw in the Cov Cath JV game, his offensive skills have improved dramatically.

Willie is going for the "brass ring" this year. He's got the horses. They took lumps last year and it's paying off now (14-1 !!!). He goes by the theory that he needs "just 3 from every class". Though this year he kept/plays 5 seniors ??? If only the Roberts boy hadn't transferred to Moeller.........

There are six seniors and they are all seeing playing time: Ben Guidugli, Tanner Johnson, Jeff Vories, Michael Smith, Chad Hudepohl, and Greg Eaton

Forget about Roberts he's gone. 3 from every class leaves you 9 players. Not much of a squad. Besides Willie is not playing 3 from each class. No juniors are playing and two sophs. Agreed the Birds have a good chance this year to get to Lexington. Next year where are you? A strong program develops underclassmen as well as putting the best on the floor now. Shields realized this after the 79 team. He played 7 seniors and 1 junior, and with that team that was definitely the right way to go. Next year only Fischer had any experiece at all. Shields still stuck with his seniors early in 80 and they struggled. Coach Shields realized his problem into the 80 season and integrated underclassmen into the rotation ( I believe Wiliie was a Freshman that moved up to Varsity). They made some noise in 9th region. Then the 81-82 team won the 9th region tourney. As good as the 79 class was, I think Coach Shields made an effort to include underclassmen to insure not to have a rebuilding year. Before Willie played as a frosh had Shilds ever played such a young player? I know when I played for him most sophs did not even dress Varsity
