Who wins and why?

Last year, Monroe's season came to end at the hands of Paducah Tilghman. Monroe has 9 starters on offense and 9 starters on defense from last years team, I think they are loving the opportunity to end this years season for PT.

 

 

Monroe in big games this year;

In district games Roe out scored their opponents 137-38

In Roe's three biggest games vs Glasgow (9-2), South Warren (8-3) and Warren East (11-0) they out scored them 87-26 with all 26 coming from Warren East, as they shut out Glasgow and South Warren.

 

Monroe's strength is it's defense and it's power running game, IMO there's nothing better to hang your hat on than that. If Monroe defends the pass well and gets pressure on PT's QB then I think the Falcons will be in good shape. Monroe's DE's and LB's are really good at stopping the run and we probable have the quickest DL that we've had in a long time. I predict a long ride home for PT...

PT will have a long night with the return of Monroe's starters. They have been destroying teams that many people thought they should lose by...I am not riding the fence on this one!

Maybe so, but it isn't like the game was close year. Tilghman won 37-0 and outgained Monroe by a better than 3-1 margin, holding the Falcons to barely over 100 yards of offense.

 

That's a big gap to make up, even with 18 returning starters.

I realize the gap was wide last year, My point was never about comparing 2011 to 2012... Just to point out that 80% of the Falcons starters on this years team had the long ride home courtesy of PT and would like to repay the favor...

But if you want to do comparisons of 2011 Monroe to 2012 Monroe you can chew on this,

Monroe lost 5 regular season games last year and was outscored 89-158 in those 5 games.

Verse those same opponents, the 2012 Falcons went 4-1 and outscored them 163-73...

Is PT expecting the same Monroe team as last year and an easy win? I believe it will not be an easy game for either team.

If PT is thinking its close to the same team I will correct my prediction to Monroe by more and PT less!!!

PT has more athletes and if the show up they will be a less talented Monroe

This should be a very good football game. Tompkinsville is a tough place to get to and a tough place to play once you do get there. We were there for the '08 semi-final and the crowd and enthusiasm there is very impressive.

 

I think two things determine this game; location of the game in Tompkinsville & the coaching at Monroe County. As long as Monroe doesn't turn over the ball and give PT extra possessions, the MC Falcons will win by a TD.

PT will prepare for this game harder than most expect. This years PT team has no one stud and have made several changes to the lineup and the O and D has underwent a serious facelift since the drubbing by FC. They are ready for a deep run in the playoffs. The Northeast Clarksville team that PT faced was by far better than both Mayfield and FC. They had 2 D1 players the mike backer is committed to Tennesee. He was a beast and that team tested PT to the breaking point. What came from that game was a newfound commitment and fire that I have never seen from a recent PT team. Watch out 3a.

Mayfield- #1 team in 1a

Graves top 5 team in 5 a

Fort Campbell top 5 3a team

I appreciate the boldness of your post... I was beginning to think that PT traveled with more than just all their "talent", it appeared to me they traveled with a built in excuse as well. I don't buy the "if they show up" excuse. You are what you are at this point, if you get drubbed then take it for what its worth...

I gotta go with Monroe County on this one. If you wanna talk impressive wins, who has PT beaten (besides Clarksville Northeast) since they've "turned things around" after the devasting loss at Fort Campbell? I don't think you can call beating up on teams that have a combined record of 12-20 a huge turnaround.

 

But....football is played on the field and it's not measured by who's beaten whom, what players are committed where, or any of that other stuff.

You want Monroe to Schedule Warren Central and Bowling Green? What good would that do them? You saw what Central did to Mayfield and FC, also saw what BG was doing to Hendo before the storms stopped the slaughter.
