Highlands 42 Elder (OH) 14 (JV)

I know of one D-lineman for Elder JV that is lucky not to have some broken fingers. If that hand had gone up into a certain facemask one more time, there would've been at least one broken finger. As it was, he was replaced before he could try that stunt yet again.

Didn't see #98 Feggins (WR) for HHS in this game. Anybody know why?

Probably had a College football game to go to. Heard from a friend of mine that a couple of weeks ago when the JV played CovCath, he could barely wait til the game was over to get out of there to head to Columbus. I'm sure he probably thinks he shouldn't be playing JV anyway.:madman: Isn't he only a Sophmore?

Jenson was sick.

Didn't feel well Friday night, but toughed it out. Used Saturday to rest.

After CovCath game he went to Athens to watch Norfolk St (dad coaches there) play Ohio U. That JV game lasted a long time and he and his mother left straight from the field.

Best to know a little about the situations before posting a bunch of probablies.

Thanks for the update, I wasn't able to see much of the Varsity game so I wasn't sure if it was injury related.

Yes. Was home sick. He had been sick with fever and chills Thursday, attended school Friday with some dizziness, but played in game Friday night. Coaches thought it best to let him take some time to recover over the weekend. Weather was absolutely miserable at the game, and none of the boys had any dry clothes to put on after either, as they had to leave bags outside in rain. Probably best that he not play and get sicker.

I take offense to this comment. He was heading to Ohio University to see his dad coach. Once football season starts, he rarely gets to spend any time with his dad as he is in Norfolk, VA for the season. His dad drove over 4 hours to surprise his wife and son at the Cov Cath game friday night. Neither had any idea he was coming and the look on their faces was priceless. You have NO idea how much it meant to both of them. Jensen wasn't going to be playing in the last few seconds of the JV game anyway. They had a long drive ahead of them to Ohio Univ and did wait until the final buzzer to leave.

And no, he doesn't think that way. He is a sophomore, but unless you know him or his family personally, you might want to keep those kind of comments to yourself.

Birds offense continued to click (after putting up 70 at CovCath & at Home v. Withrow as well as a big # at LexCath). Houliston looked good passing, OL gave him plenty of time early and Hayes had a 1 yd. plunge and an electrifying 69 yd. run on the 2nd possession. Venneman had a couple nice long catches, including 1 for a TD. Allen caught 2 TDs as well. Nice pick 6 by Noe as well.

Defense played well against a surprisingly challenged Elder offense. They ran the ball OK, but passing game was out of sync. Good passes were dropped and other passes were off target. 1 TD on a nice athletic play by the QB (#1) and the 2nd TD was late in the game on a nice drive as HHS was mixing in some other personnel.

I personally thought the decision by the Line Judge to rule Watson out at the 1 yd. line toward the end of the game was merciful. No need for another TD, the ensuing KO and passing tries by Elder. HHS Coach (Lynch) took the cue and took a knee on the 1st & goal to run out the clock. No intended or perceived "salt in the wound." Simply respect for an opponent that was beat and didn't need that point reinforced.

Given the # of JRs and SOs playing at the Varsity level, the JV program suggests that HHS will continue to be in good hands once this season is completed.
