I apologize if this has already been posted. I caught the tail end of a story on WLW yesterday mentioning something about Newport being removed or quiting the nky middle school football league over some controversy involving players and coaches. Does anyone have the details? I missed most of the discussion.

Newport was deemed ineligible for the NKYFL Playoffs do to having illegal players on a few of their teams. Newport has now decided to opt out of the NKYFL. I have heard they are taking their teams over to Cincinnati to play in some type of league over there...

Makes sense, can't follow the rules, so take your team somewhere else where they will let you break them.

Great leadership here.

Its pretty hardcore down there in Newport. They have some talented kids but not sure where many of them come from. I think much of the investigation stemmed from a game earlier in the year with the Campbell Co Red Devils when a kid got cracked back on way behind a Pick 6. Apparently the kid layed hurt on the field for a long time and the mom went ballistic running on the field. It was chaos according to a buddy of mine who was there. Soon after there were accusations that they were playing illegal players and that is what caused the coaches to be on probation. The straw that broke the Board's back was the fact that those coaches ignored the suspensions and ended up coaching the following week.

Sounds like a Jerry Springer episode.

That is nice to know. I hope South Kenton does not have to play them next year. They beat us in the Tiger Bowl. Their coaches and players taunted are coaches and players they was pretty lucky are players kept their cool and showed class.

I have been around the NKYFL for the better part of 20 years and I will say this, good riddance NFF! When there have been problems in that league, 9 times out of 10 it has something to do with that organization. The problems that occurred this year were not misinterpretations, misunderstandings or miscommunication; it was flat out cheating. They may fit in better in the Cincinnati league.

This is where they will be playing..

Greater Cincinnati Buckeye Youth Football Association (GCBYFA). GCBYFA is the premier youth tackle football and cheerleading league in the Southern Ohio / Northern Kentucky area. This league is comprised of 8 other programs: Avondale Eagles, Dayton Flames, Madisonville Tigers, Mt. Airy Chargers, Western AA Warriors, Winton Hills Falcons, Winton Woods Rams and Winton Wood Little Warriors.

I heard it is like AAU but for football...

Judging by who they are playing...good luck. That has "Mayhem" written all over it.
