isn't someone supposed to be checking birth certificates and bio information at weight in? Are we saying that NFF 'added' players after the check in that were too old?

 

Thats one of the main issues with the NKYFL, there are not those impartial someones who check this information.

 

Yep, I have seen the American Legion craziness firsthand. One of their coaches chest bumped our coach after a game, same guy who was ejected and told to go up on the hill in our first game. He stood at the top of the hill and yelled at the umpires up at Hilltop field in Newport. The parents were threatening our parents, it was a joke. I am all for giving these boys a chance but it all starts with the parents and coaches and the same group of kids/parents were supposedly part of the NFF.

 

My 5th grade basketball team even played many of those boys in a league over at Nothing but Net and we handled them but it seemed every time we would play them they would bring in a new couple kids. There is more to life than winning at Youth Football, nobody is going to care in 15 years and if they do then they dont have much of a life.

Yes they do check, but its not exactly rocket science to write in a phony address on the forms. It's not kids that are too old, it's kids playing out of territory that NFF got punished for. And really, there's no need to try to hide it... Lots of kids play out of territory, they just have to go through the waiver process, which isn't terribly difficult.

This was posted on NKYFL President Rick Buckler's FB page. Just thought I would share it for those of you who dont understand what happened.

 

 

 

At the September NKYFL meeting, Newport rosters were protested for illegal players. After review of the roster, it was determined that they had several players that were not eligible to play for them. As per the NKYFL by-laws, each game that these players participated in had to be forfeited. Newport was given the opportunity per our by-lays to prove eligibility. The requirements are: a letter from school system and proof of residency. A total of 8 players throughout the organization couldn’t prove they were eligible to play for the Newport Fire Fighters (NFF) organization. A player must live in the organization league’s designated territory or get a waiver from NKYFL to be eligible. After determining these players were not eligible, they were removed from their prospective teams. It was the feeling of the NKYFL board that one coach was illegally recruiting players. He was indefinitely suspended from NKYFL as a coach. The head coach of the team with the most illegal players (who is responsible for checking eligibility) was suspended for the remainder of the season. The head director of Newport Fire Fighters was suspended for the remainder of the season for lack of organization control. Newport Fire Fighters organization was put on probation for the remainder of the season and the 2013 season. Guidelines of probation were given to the organization, and it was made clear that any violation would be subject to NFF entire organization to being banned from the playoff this year. The penalty was made so severe as to discourage anyone from violating it, with the thought that no one in the organization would jeopardize the kids in NFF. Within a few days of being put on probation, NFF had head coaches publicly berating the NKYFL and its officials. NFF suspended this coach for the remainder of the year. NKYFL accepted the punishment even though this was a violation of probation and NKYFL could have banned NFF at this point. A ten day latter, the banned coaches were observed sending into the field during a game, clearly again a violation of probation, and the NKYFL gave a warning instead of banning NFF from play offs. The next week, there were NFF fans walking through the opposite field stands with derogatory signs. Someone from the NFF organization should have put a stop to this type of behavior; again, instead of banning NFF organization, they were given another warning. The following week, an email was sent out to the entire league giving game time and stating if there are any questions call one of the suspended coaches; again, a violation of probation. A meeting was scheduled for Sunday night to discuss this action. After the email was sent out, two of the suspended coaches show up at a game with the Newport film man. In the opinion of the board, this was obviously to scout. At the game this past Sunday, the suspended coaches that were not to have anything to do with coaching decisions, still had their coaches’ passes on and communicating with coaching staff on field.

The NFF organization gave the NKYFL no choice except to follow-through with the conditions of probation and to ban NFF organization from the playoff for 2012. There is an appeal process that the NFF Acting Director is aware of.

The actions of the NFF organization have put the kids in the position that they are in, please keep that in mind when you are posting or taking any action.

As I’m sure everyone is aware, I’m receiving numerous inquiries about this and will not be able to respond to all, so this will be my only comments on this page.

They should be permenatly banned, theres really no excuse for repeatitivly breaking rules like this.
