October 12, 201214 yr Vice President Joe Biden laughed at Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan Thursday for his attacks on the stimulus, reminding him that he requested stimulus funding for his Wisconsin district. "I love my friend here," Biden said during the debate in Danville, Ky. "I'm not allowed to show letters here, but go on our website. He sent me two letters saying, by the way, can you send me some stimulus money for companies here in the state of Wisconsin?" Ryan is a frequent critic of the stimulus, using it as an example of out-of-control spending by the Obama administration. But as noted by Biden, Ryan requested stimulus money for his district. Ryan acknowledged at the debate that he asked for funding. "On two occasions we advocated for constituents who were applying for grants," Ryan said, adding it's something members of congress do for the people in their district. Biden seemed to find that statement funny. Joe Biden: Paul Ryan Asked Me For Stimulus Funds (VIDEO)
October 12, 201214 yr If the Democrats are going to throw money out like Halloween candy to all 50 states, a congressman still has a responsibility to get some of it for his constituents. He doesn't have to agree with the policy. But Ryan knows that someday that credit card will have to be paid. Obviously Biden and Obama don't, or a least they're not worried about it. Whatever it takes to get elected is their policy. They've handed out over a million free phones, nicknamed Obama phones, in Ohio in the past few months. Buying votes with taxpayers money. Whatever it takes to win, 4 more years and they're home free, then let someone else worry about the debt and how to pay for it.
October 12, 201214 yr The logic that...."I'm against it (wink, wink), but if you're going to do it I want at least my share, or more"....is a big contributor to what has gotten us in such a financial mess. We seldom insist that a politician take a stand based on principle!
October 12, 201214 yr So the CNN poll means nothing to you? And the CBS Poll means nothing to you? @MichaelSkolnik: CBS NEWS SNAP POLL of uncommitted voters: 50% Biden won; 31% Ryan; 19% tie. #VPDebate
October 12, 201214 yr So Biden spanked Ryan on CBS and Ryan spanked Biden on CNN. I only saw the last half hour but I didn't think either canidate did anything to hurt their cause. That's about as good as you can do.
October 12, 201214 yr The only thing Biden for sure won was being funnier, but if I wanted a comedian as VP I would vote for Jay Leno. I liked How Biden lied about not knowing about the request for more security in Libya.

He made a mockery of the debate every time he laughed (which he did every time Ryan spoke). Biden's weakest talking point was defending his administration's lack of competence and control over the attack on our embassy in Libya. Edited October 12, 201214 yr by Randy Parker Rule 8
October 13, 201214 yr And you know he lied how? He is saying that he and the president didn't know. So that means Hillary isn't talking to them. Hillary knew as Secretary of Defense and she isn't talking to the Pres. and VP? What does that tell you?
October 13, 201214 yr And you know he lied how? He either lied or Biden and Obama are completely out of touch in regards to national security. Of course if the president bother to show up for more that half of his intelligence briefings maybe he would have know. I think Obamaites would be better off saying that Biden lied.

October 13, 201214 yr Hillary is Secretary of State . I'm not sure who would be most insulted...Hillary for being mistaken for Leon Panetta, or Leon for being mistaken for Hillary.
