NEERFAN
I can't believe I missed all the drama. Ranks right up there with leaving the SK/Conner game early in '08 then finding out via Don Weber that we lost. We go for two quite a bit but I find it hard to believe that we'd go for two late in the game when we didn't do it when the game was on the line. I know Jeff had Thompson on the sidelines for the playoffs two years ago, I guess that won't be happening this season.

Dadof3
The PA said the it was a mishandled snap or something along those lines meaning the two point conversation wasn't intentional. However, I didn't see it clearly so I need some help on that one??? It was raining for most of the 2nd half. Swanson fumbled the snap and did exactly what EVERY holder is taught to do. I had a perfect view of it. Maybe when Boone's coaches look at the film they'll feel like idiots for acting like ones.
Rhino859
If I am not mistaken, Boone Co. cancelled their freshman game against Conner last week and moved it to saturday because their was a threat of rain (it didn't rain). I don't know, but I think that football games sometimes have to be played under bad field conditions. Personally, I think that soccer games should either be played in the parking lot, or at a public park somewhere, as not to damage the football field, but that my hurt some people's feelings, just my opinion. emperorhasnoclothes
It sounds like Boone is ready for a turf field and a new coach. That may be your best post ever on BGP. After 6656 posts! Did SK lose any "students" to Boone?
jolmstead
You mean Jeff Marksberry showed no class? Gee, that's a shocker. Coming from a guy who knows all about the absence of class and character!
ccfans
Call it cheap if you want but it is football. They won by 18 not really running up the score. I guess the people at Boone forget how Boone always ran the score up on other teams. If I was the Marksberry I would have went for the end zone again after being stared down by the Boone coaches and especially after the Boone coach threw his arms up at the SK sideline. I agree with weareuk after Boone ran up the score against CC last year and then the JV came to CC to play and had players the played over half the game the night before and started the JV game. Then after they won the game by a horrible call by the referees they stood on the middle of our field and chanted that "we own these bitches" I hope everyone runs the score up against them. That program has no class with the new coaches they have now.
jolmstead
Did Boone cancel the game? If SK did, a possible motivation might be that they have a short week playing on Thursday this week.
Cherry Picker
Even if SK was running the score up, don't punish the JV players who work just as hard as the varsity all week in practice. In general JV and Freshman teams always get done dirty with dropping games due to forecast, saving the field, blah blah blah. Just play the games these kids deserve! If it's muddy so be it. If it's raining without lightning so be it!
All Tell
As a couldn't be more disinterested observer I find it more then a bit humorous that Boone County could even possibly bring up preserving the field as a reason for canceling a JV game when on at least 2 occasions that I know of they did everything in their power to slop it up before a varsity game in the playoffs. TripleSevens
I dont think it was cheap. A senior WR that doesnt play was able to get his 1st TD ever on that play. So if a kid gets a chance and SK could not run the ball at all then Cheap it is but not in my eyes. Was it cheap that Boone ran the ball out side on the JV D and scored a TD? Did anyone pay attention to this post...specifically the bold sentence? If that is true, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that "cheap touchdown"...I mean nothing. A coach is not ever supposed to worry what someone else thinks and what another coach may think when it comes to something like this. You care about your players and you want to see them achieve. Especially a senior that has put in the work and not played much. Its his last time playing Boone...if he can get in the game in the end and get his first touchdown, who cares what Boone's coaches think, parents think or fans think. This post makes all the complaining and accusing of bad sportsmanship seem silly.
theguru
Coach Thompson is officially saying he cancelled the JV game due to weather. To that I again say, "Also, before anyone suggests the cancellation was to preserve the football field at Boone County, Boone has a bye this coming week, then they play Campbell on the road, then John Hardin at home. So the only remaining varsity football game at home is John Hardin which is a meaningless football game. And the chances of Boone having a home playoff game are slim and none and Slim is out of town."
SportsGuy41017
It was canceled at the end of the varsity game where Simon Kenton did lots of passing right up until the end when the game clearly had been decided. If this is the case, who is Boone hurting? Yes, the kids at SK, BUT also their own kids! If I was a JV player or their parent at Boone I wouldn't be happy. So, many have asked this for years, when will Boone get a new coach? How long can Thompson survive without producing? (Yes, another title for a thread). Clyde
Without commenting on this specific game the argument that you want to get a senior a TD is not enough to warrant late-game passing in a high-margin game. Get the kid in earlier if that's your goal. Getting a kid a TD while running up the score (and I'm not saying this game applies) is not acceptable.
