Exactly. The homers wanted to believe they were good but ignored who they were good against last year. They were good statistically last year bc of the QB's they faced.

 

Actually to make things shorter I believe with a healthy Dunlap and Moch being back from suspension will really help the defense. They won't be a shut down defense, but with those guys it should put more pressure on the QB. So with that they should be able to keep teams hopefully in the 20's. Which would give them a chance to win, because they have an offense who can also score in the 20's each game. Especially since they won't be playing as tough of defenses this year.

The Bengals are going no where fast with this defense. Good luck Coach Zimmer making anything out of this bunch. Bengals look like a 6 and 10 or a 7 and 9 team to me.

Green can bail him out on deep balls and Baby Hawk is capable of making easy throws for Dalton turn into big plays. BJGE looks solid. Gresham continues to be disappointing IMO. It's all about the defense though. If the D-Line improves when Dunlap comes back, and Dre is able to come back in the near future, I think they can still possibly sneak into the playoffs.

 

However, this team needs a lot of help to get on the level of the Steelers, Texans, Pats, Ravens, Broncos, etc. The secondary is abysmal, regardless of the pressure up front.

I agree with most of the things you said. Dalton while he only missed on 7 throws, 3 or 4 of those misses were throws he needs to be able to hit and would have been big plays. It seems like on the long throws he is trying to hard to show people he does have a strong arm for the long throws, that now he is putting to much in the throws instead of putting it to where his guys can make a play on it.

The Bengals defense the last 4 seasons has finished 12th, 4th, 15th, and 7th. So people acting like the Bengals defense was just a one time lucky thing last year based on who they played are wrong. For the last 4 seasons the Bengals have had a better defense than half the teams in the NFL and a top 10 on in two of those years. They have a good defense but I must admit not great. Or I should say had a good defense, because right now they definitely are not good. I am just hoping the return of Dunlap and Moch from suspension helps the pass rush. The pass rush is the biggest concern and if that gets fixed it can get them back to at least the top half of the defenses in the NFL. It just would then be on the offense to be consistent with scoring.

The Browns are the worst team in the NFL? I mean at least the game was really never in doubt against the Browns, Philly had to score in the last minute to beat them. The Browns will end up being a better team than what you give them credit for. I see them winning 5 to 6 games this year.

Browns have a good defense but Bengals made Weeden look way to good.

The Browns aren't good, but they're a division rival. Their defense looked solid in their opener against Philly, and the Bengals pretty much shredded them.

 

They got a win. If they lost to a team, like say the Cardinals at home, then it would be much more discouraging.

The Bengals had 80 tackles against the Browns with nearly half of them was made by the secondary. Newman had 10, Maualuga 10, Clements 8 and Rey 7. No lineman had more than 3. Weeden passed 37 times and the Bengals had two sacks and only five hits on the QB. The problem I have with Zimmer is that if you have a team that is questionable in the secondary, why don't we blitz more? If they blitz more they are terrible at it.
