Looks like the Tigers brought there "A" game.

Beechwood by 4 touchdowns? Wow. That's strong. Mayfield and the rest of the 1A teams better get ready for 3 years of Beechwood dominance starting next year. I knew Beechwood was great but Trinity couldn't beat HHS freshmen by 4 touchdowns. The birds wheels would really have to fall off tomorrow night to lose by four touchdowns.

It was close to 4 TD win. They had a 4 TD lead in the 4th quarter.

Wow pretty impressive win for the Beechies.

Here is your game report:

Highlands received the opening kickoff and picked up a couple first downs on their opening drive before being stopped on 4th down at the Beechwood 30. The Tigers came right back and picked up yards in pretty good chunks. Ethan Stringer went 23 yards on a nice run for the TD. The extra point by German made it 7-0 Tigers, 2:53 to go. Highlands was 3 and out on their next drive. Beechwood started on the 50 and the quarter ended with BW leading 7-0.

Second Quarter - Beechwood converted on a 4th down play at the 30. Then QB Kyle Fieger hit WR Brett Slusher with a 22 yard TD pass. The XP was no good. BW13 HHS 0 with 8:33 to go in the half. Highlands picked up one 1st down then punted. On Beechwood's first play from the 27, Stringer fumbled and Highlands recovered. A face mask penalty aided the Highlands drive and the Bluebirds QB Kreeger scored on a 4 yard run to get the Birds on the board. The XP by Dougherty made it 13-7 with 3:46 left. Beechwood started moving down field again but Cody Stamper intercepted a Fieger pass at the 25 and returned it all the way to the BW 31. The Birds could not take advantage as the Tigers held on downs. Stringer then took the momentum back for the Tigers with a 63 yard TD run, just 29 seconds left in the half. The 2 point try was no good and the Tigers led 19-7 at the half.

The 3rd quarter saw the Tigers opening second half drive end with their first punt of the game. The Birds could not get anything going and punted it back after one 1st down. Beechwood then started moving the ball. Fieger found Slusher on a slant pattern, hit him in stride and Slusher dragged a Bluebird into the end zone for the score from 41 yards out. Stringer went around left end for the 2 point conversion. 1:05 to go, BW 27 HHS 7. Highlands tried to get back into the game but Cottingham intercepted a pass at the 23. Stringer took the first play 77 yards for a TD with 36 seconds left in the quarter. German's XP made it 34-7 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

The 4th quarter saw a long drive by Highlands with Kreeger scoring on a 3 yard run with 3:55 to go. The XP kick was no good. 34-13. The Birds tried an onsides kick but the Tigers recovered. The first team ran one play and then were subbed for en masse, jogging off to cheers from the Tiger fans. The game ended with the score Beechwood 34 Highlands 13.

Congrats to the Tigers.

Ladt time HHS lost by 21?

Nice game report Eye! Thx. Congrats to BW on a nice win. I would hate to be Highlands next opponent! Anyone know who that might be? Sounds like Stringer is the real deal.

Stringer dominated it sounds like. Isn't he the kid that was projected to be a Pioneer?

Congratulations Tigers!!! Impressive. Beating Highlands is impressive by itself. Beating them by that margin really impressive.

To answer your question Clyde, the last time the Birds lost by this big a margin may have also been to Beechwood in the freshman championship game 4 years ago.

:popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn: This should be good.

Stringer played very well. But it wasn't a one man show. Bankemper picked up a lot of yards rushing. Fieger to Slusher picked up yards. The Tigers controlled the game. I believe Beechwood wins the game with no Stringer but it would be closer.

I remember that being a much closer game than 3 touchdowns, but maybe it blew up at the end.

For some reason I am thinking that ended up about a 3 TD margin also. Maybe it was just two TD's. I think Beechwood led most of the game and added on as the game went on. If someone is good at searching threads on here, I am sure there is a thread that has the score and details.

Totally agree. That was pretty balanced. He is certainly the "Real Deal", but he is not the team. This team would be excelellent without him. Of course, with him they may be unstoppable. I was not a believer, so I decided to go up to the game. I am a believer now.

Congratulations to the Tigers.
