A fun question regarding Covington Catholic & Highlands

Featured Replies

Where would Highlands be ranked in 6a, 5a, 3a?

Where would Cov Cath be ranked in 6a, 5a, 3a?

Rankings in early September don't mean anything to anyone but old men. I don't think about rankings until after Thanksgiving.

It's Highlands with an S on the end. Please make note of that for future posts.

Great question, MHSCardinal

I will answer each one separately, in other words, if either team were in those classes, not if BOTH teams were in those classes.

At this point in the season, with our current rankings...

I think HHS would be ranked #1 in 3A, #1 in 5A and #2 in 6A

I think CCH would be ranked #2 in 3A, #3 in 5A, and #3 in 6A

Highlands:

6A-#2

5A-#1(they'd be ranked #1 but I'd allow my BG bias to go hard on em to be #2. :D)

3A-#1(really no point to ask what they'd be ranked below 4A)

Covington Catholic:

6A-#4

5A-#4

3A-#1

Cov Cath

6A-3rd behind Trinity and HHS

5A-2nd behind HHS and BG

3A-2nd behind HHS

Highlands

6-A-2nd to Trinity of course

5A-1st tied with BG

3A-1st

Is this with those two in the same class? I based mine on CovCath being in 3A without Highlands in it with them.

Good question, mine was with them in the same class. Look out 5A, you will be getting your wish as the Colonels enrollment will put them into 5a territory in the next few years as HHS still lags behind in boys enrolled. Another thread stated within 2 years CCH will be 5A because they have 2 monstrous classes of boys due to come there next year and the year after. I don't know what I'll do if/when HHS/Cov Cath game loses playoff implications and just becomes another non-district game, assuming they'll keep playing and I think they would.

Without Birds in their division then I would put them the same as I ranked the birds with the exception of 5A where I would put BG-1st, and them 2nd.

If CCH is forced to move up due to enrollment, Highlands will probably move up also. If CCH goes to 5A, that leaves only Highlands and Holmes in the 4A district assuming Pendleton County drops out as is being said. You can't have a two team district so Highlands would surely be allowed to move up to 5A due to geographic reasons if they wanted to.

Yea, but you can't have a one team district either. That would leave Holmes all alone.

That's the way I meant it...:thumb:

I would imagine if Holmes didn't want to move up they would be put in an expanded district?

I added 3a in there, because I wanted to see how people would rank these 2 in comparison to Central. Looks like everyone feels Highlands would be ahead, a little more questionable between CC and Central.

Most feel Highlands would be #1 or #2 in 5a, either just ahead or about equal with BGreen. That's a pretty tough call, either way and I can see reasons for either. It's interesting some think CCath would be #2 right behind BGreen in 5a, then others say as low as #4 and I'm assuming that's being put behind John Hardin and WCentral, maybe Franklin Co.?

In 6a, I was curious if people felt Highlands would be ahead of St X. I already knew they wouldn't place them above Trinity. CCath would be #3 at best, according to all people who picked, but, would they go ahead of Scott Co and some of the other Louisville schools?

With these things in mind, let's just ask the obvious questions:

Who wins these games? Assume on a neutral field..

Central vs Cov Cath

J.Hardin vs Cov Cath

BGreen vs Cov Cath

WCentral vs Cov Cath

Scott Co vs Cov Cath

Franklin Co vs Cov Cath

PRP vs Cov Cath

BGreen vs Highlands

JHardin vs Highlands

WCentral vs Highlands

St X vs Highlands

This should be fun...
