Boyle County hosts Dixie Heights next Friday at Boyle County High School.

 

Boyle is 1-3 and has lost its last two games to Danville and John Hardin. Add in the season opening loss to Highlands as well as a victory over Collins and you are looking at what some believe is easily one of the toughest schedules in the state seeing that all of these schools are ranked. At first glance the game against Dixie Heights looked to be a welcoming sight but Dixie Heights upset Conner last night and may have found that necessary mojo to make some noise in the NKY 6A. Dixie was down 24-7 before a storm delay and outscored a very good Conner team 26-7 after the delay to win 33-31 to capture their first victory of the season. In this battle of 1 win teams I'll make the easy and safe observation that the team that wins the turnover battle will win this game. With the way Boyle is turning the ball over that has to make the Dixie faithful look good.

 

Will Boyle go 0-NKY this year? We'll see. Add the quarterback controversy at Boyle(I have no clue who will start....Senior Casey Whittle or Freshman Josiah Robbins) into the mix and this looks to be the most intriguing game amongst two 1-win teams in the state.

I'm thinking along very similar lines as you are. At the earlier point of the season, I would have picked the Rebels in a runaway, but with the way things have went for them since playing Highlands leaves me uncertain.

 

On the other hand, many felt that Dixie was going to be one of the whipping boys of NKY and it looked that way until last night. Beating Conner had to be a huge confidence booster to them boys and if they are all believing in themselves, who knows what can happen from this point.

 

I believe this is an intriguing game as well and that both are going to be hungry for the win prior to getting in to district play. IMO, this should be close but think that Boyle has a slight edge with playing this at home.

I'm going to say Dixie pulls out a win in a close one..28 to 24

I was just told that Boyle County kicker/wide receiver William Harris is out indefinitely with leg injuries. An already depth challenged team is being challenged once again.

 

I haven't heard anything about starting running back and leading rusher, Seph Burke's status.

 

No clue who will be starting at quarterback either. Freshman Josiah Robbins or senior Casey Whittle? Guess we'll see.

Boyle will roll over the Colonels like a Sherman Tank! Because that is how they run the ball, hard!

This will be a very tough, physical loss for Dixie.....I would say by 35-42 points.

Have not heard about Burke's my self. And I am with you PP on almost all you have said. But I do not think that there is a quarterback controversy. The Robbins kid came in and moved the team down the field. Not I have nothing bad to say about Casey, but Boyle did move the ball better with the Robbins kid in the game.

No QB Controversy: From the Advocate Messenger:

Where there won’t be a change as of now is at quarterback, where Casey Whittle is going to start this week after being replaced by freshman Josiah Robbins last week.

“As of now Casey is the starter, but Casey needs to settle down and play well for us,”¿French said. “He knows the offense and he’s got a strong arm. And he’s been nursing a knee (injury) also. I think Casey’s going to be fine.”

But French also wants to make sure he gets the athletic Robbins on the field in some capacity.

“Josiah has seen the field a little bit, and I think he’s going to play plenty,”¿French said. “He’s going to see the field, let’s put it that way.”

 

I Agree with French. It is hard to replace 4 yrs experience. Casey moved the team well against Highlands for a half, the offense ran over Collins, Casey had a great 2 minute drill for 2 TD's in the Danville comeback. He does not run as well as Josiah, but does have great reads and hides the ball well in the wishbone, and is an adequate runner. He got off to a slow start last year as well., but still threw for over 1,500 yds. I expect the same this year. Casey is also nursing a MCL injury.

I would expect to see Josiah on the field in some "wildcat" formations, some at RB, and more at a wideout. Getting the ball in his hands in open field will be a nice weapon. I really think the offense gets it together this week and next. I hope that the defense does as well. Still too many missed tackles and giving up big plays.

I would agree with Coach French some what. Casey does know the offense and has more experience but he has only been the starting QB for 2 years. Robbins is a freshman but from what I see he has a strong arm also but he runs the ball better. Its kind of like the QB's we have had in the past. They would as soon run over you as to falling down. Not that Casey falls down. I did not know about his knee. Coach French is the coach and he knows the team better than me so I believe in him and the team.

Hey 100 Posts. Well it should be more but for got all my stuff from before and had to start over.

I think I am more concerned with our defense than offense right now. We can find ways to score enough points to win. At some point we need to dig down and play the Boyle County defense we are accustomed to seeing and keep people from scoring more points than us. I know the talent is there. I think this is where depth becomes an issue. The defense has looked tired in the third quarter all year not including last week when they shut out John Hardin in the second half. Hopefully that effort from the defense carries over to tomorrow.

 

 

If Burke can't play I hope to see Josiah at RB. Casey's experience can't be replaced but Josiah needs to be on the field somehow with the ball in his hands. Kid is going to be a player.

I would like to say Dixie could stay in and win this game but I don't think they can. Boyle by at least 20.
