Nice win tonight for the Greendevils; hoping for a few more wins for the season.

OUCH!!! Maybe The Stangs might want to consider shutting things down after a thumping like this. :idunno:

Congrats to the Greendevils

I don't get it, to play Bracken Co so well and then laid an egg.

Dayton may be far away from great, but have definitely improved in comparison to the past couple of seasons.

383 yards on the ground. 20 carries for Walker for 231 & 3 scores.

Congrats to the Greendevils

Painful, painful loss for the Mustangs tonight.

As far as shutting things down, that is not likely to happen, BUT a 24 point loss to Dayton does not lend a lot of encouragment with a full-fledged 2-A schedule looming.

The Mustangs failed to punch it in from the two with time expiring in the first half, could have made it an 18-13 game at halftime with Brossart getting the ball to start the second half. Also had one called back in the first half, as did Dayton, but Dayton went on to score anyway. We didn't.

Pelgen was intercepted on first play from scrimmage in second half, and after scoring on that series and the next, the rout was on.

I feel bad for our kids and coaches who are passionate about football, and are committed to the program. The problem is - there are simply not enough of them. Catch 22. We don't win so the kids don't come back. The kids don't come back so we don't win. At present we have a thriving junior high (Colts) program. IF these kids will stick with it and provide the nucleus of a competitive varstiy football program, then we might be off and running after a slow start. IF the junior high kids don't persevere and we end up with 20 upperclassmen in uniforms like this year, then we probably need to take a serious look at the future of Brossart Football.

The one major caveat in starting football was that it had to be beneficial to us and not be an embarrassment or it would work against us. The kids we were losing to Campbell County football and NewCath football, for the most part are still going to Campbell and NCC for football. What we have learned is that football is hard, and it takes a lot of somewhat talented players to be successful. The KHSAA did us no favors by sending us to 2-A at this time in our development. Add it all up and it equates to a struggling football program.

Hopefully, better times are ahead!

I will agree with you on this point 100%. It is certainly a credit to those coaches and players.

What was Elberts stats for this game?

Jake had a tough first half, being limited to merely 21 yards on 11 carries, but opened it up in the second half picking up 121 yards on 9 carries, for game totals of 132 yards on 20 carries. Elbert had a few more yards on completed pass plays to him.

The Mustangs opened up the offense and unveiled an arial assault as QB Casey Pelgen threw for 14 of 23 completions for 189 yards with one interception. Junior Sean Tieman was Pelgen's primary receiver reeling in 7 receptions for 115 yards.

We had Dejuan Walker of Dayton for 216 yards and 4 TDs.

If Dayton had a couple of more players close to Walker's ability on offense, I'm sure they would be better than they are. Walker is one of the best players I have watched for Dayton on the field in quite a while.

Nice win for Dayton and I agree on Walker.

Good win for Dayton. Congratulations!

Stat guy from Dayton just broke film down, 3 tds for Walker and 231 yards. Elbert 20 carries for 123. Pelgen played good but Daytons "D" left a few interceptions on the ground.
