September 5, 201214 yr I guess the new line for the Obama campaign is "we didn't do that" “The video in question was produced and paid for by the host committee of the city of Charlotte. It’s neither an OFA nor a DNC video, despite what the Romney campaign is claiming,” the Obama campaign told Buzzfeed. “It’s time for them to find a new target for their faux outrage.” Dan Murrey, executive director of the host committee, fell on his sword: The “Welcome to Charlotte” video was solely produced and paid for by the Host Committee’s New American City Fund, which promotes the city of Charlotte and welcomes our guests. The intent of this video was to tell the story of this region and it is completely unaffiliated with the Obama campaign or the Democratic National Committee. The reference by the campaign to Romney has to do with a tweet sent out from his official Twitter account mocking the phrase.
September 5, 201214 yr I'm admittedly the naive one who still believes that with he right people in place the government can function properly regardless of size. Unfortunately our current situation leaves people choosing between who they feel is the lesser of two evils. We can't expect our government to function properly if the majority are choosing between the lesser of two evils. My naïveté and eternal optimism keeps telling me the ship will right itself at some point.A bloated entity cannot function properly.
September 5, 201214 yr Wise man this Dan Murrey fella. Wise man. I would have loved to have heard that conversation. It was either "Dan you idiot!" Or "Hey Dan can you do us a favor?"
September 5, 201214 yr Author Who pays the mortgage on the White House?Doesn't have anything to do with it. And without government where we would be?My best guess the same piece of ground we now call Kentucky. People can and would survive without government however government can't survive without people. Government is nothing more then an idea that has been allowed to grow out of control. We do not owe anything to the government, government owes everything to us. With out people and business the government does not exist. Too many in Washington have forgotten this and have made a career trying to make you forget it.

September 5, 201214 yr But PP, isn't the people running the government and the government one in the same? I'm not sure there is a difference. This is really the heart of the matter and why I think that people make too much out of "the government" being an enemy. Just as a church is really made up of the people that attend it, as opposed to the building that services are held in, the government isn't the White House, the Capitol or the Supreme Court. We are the government. It is not an outside entity to fear. We just don't all agree on what that role should play in our lives.

Just like elected officials are no longer statesmen. Over the course of time it has become distorted. There is no way anyone can convince me that the government should be as big as it is.
September 5, 201214 yr Obama's speech has been officially moved indoors. Weather concerns with the chances being at 30%. Republicans say it is because they cannot fill the place. I am calling bologna on that. I buy more in to the not wanting to hold it at "Bank of America" stadium as I saw some trying to refer to it as Panther Stadium of late. But I get the safety concerns. Everyone is afraid of a little water.
September 5, 201214 yr The pros and cons of capitalism?Government fleecing individuals and business has nothing to do with Capitolism. For some reason to many on this board, Capitolism is a bad word.
September 5, 201214 yr Government fleecing individuals and business has nothing to do with Capitolism. For some reason to many on this board, Capitolism is a bad word. I don't think anyone on this board is against capitalism. I haven't seen any evidence of that. I was merely posing a question meant for discussion. I'm thinking government regulations and intervention affect capitalism in some shape, form or fashion. Is that an incorrect thought?
September 5, 201214 yr Author The pros and cons of capitalism?Nothing to do with capitalism. I'm talking about the $2.5T the feds take in.
