Who pays the mortgage on the White House?

 

I pay for part of it. Got the check stub to prove it.

Well, one thing is for sure, Michelle can certainly say she is better off now than she was 4 years ago. Her date nights have gone from dinner and maybe a movie in a rusted out car to dinner and the theater in New York City on Airforce One.

I still don't understand this train of thought. People act like they can't attempt to live a normal life because of who they are. I don't understand this logic.

Oh my gosh, you kill me. You take one pharase and pick it to death. Every speach centered around government and it's involvement. Every success story involved the government. We are all a member of the government, the government this, the government that. Like I said if that's the country you want, great have at.

I agree. The Obamas are no more guilty than any other first family of taking a vacation.

It is not that we don't need a govenment. It is that we don't need the government to be our daddy and take care of all of us. Get the government out of the way and private sector will do just fine. The government cannot take care of 50% of the people. The government is inherently corrupt (not just the Obama administration).

 

Health care, social security, unemployment, welfare, bailouts....enough is enough.

It is not that we don't need a govenment. It is that we don't need the government to be our daddy and take care of all of us. Get the government out of the way and private sector will do just fine. I do agree with your line of thinking somewhat. I just think there has to be some government involvement in all of these things. If we can't trust the government to take care do these things why should I trust the private sector? The bigger question is how do we rid the government of corruption and sadly I don't see corruption ever leaving the government from the local levels all of the way to the presidency. The selfish interests of individuals involved in the government is our downfall. Not the government.

I'm not saying there should be some form of government, I'm saying it's way, way, to big and appears as though the plan is to make it bigger. It's like they are trying to convince us that the government is important.

 

Like I said I just don't agree with the depth of government that this administration wants. I fine with the fact that some people disagree but let's just own it. I'm gonna be nice and say the President more of a Keynesian than I am.

You are confusing the argument, conservatives are not Anarchists. Anarchists want ZERO government, conservatives want small government, huge difference. Libs/left and those that are misinformed tend to think government is the answer to everything.

I'm admittedly the naive one who still believes that with he right people in place the government can function properly regardless of size. Unfortunately our current situation leaves people choosing between who they feel is the lesser of two evils. We can't expect our government to function properly if the majority are choosing between the lesser of two evils. My naïveté and eternal optimism keeps telling me the ship will right itself at some point.

Boy I would love to believe that also. I've just been disappointed too many times and it appears to be getting worse.
