One of the most competitive.....maybe

One of the strongest....no chance

I agree. Until the teams in the 14th start playing 60 to 90 games year end and year out (summer ball) then I don't think we will ever produce the teams that can compete on the state level. Sure there may be an occassional exception from time to time but baseball programs are built at age 6-9 and continue thru high school. We dribble more than we throw in the mountains.

100% correct.

Knott Central plays a lot during the Summer and most of the boys plays on a team in the Fall. May be the reason they are getting better and better.

Hazard, Leslie, and Perry Central had a team put together over the Summer and the Fall, I believe. KCC played Lee, Owsley, Powell, North Laurel, and a bunch of others during the Summer. It takes a lot of games to get better. That's why we see teams like KCC, Hazard, Lee, and so on, play well into the regional tournament.

I agree Kids Fan. I know thats why Owsley struggles our little league system isn.t very good here, but it is getting better and until it gets much better Owsley will have trouble competing. With summer basketball it is hard to put together a summer team as well. We had a 13 to 16 year old team this year that did real well hopefully it carry.s over.

Didn't Knott's team get about half their players from Allen Central? You guys make it sound like Knott is the only team that does anything in the summer. There are some teams out there that stay together year round. They just don't get on a message board and advertise.

The class a schools will be test right off with the all a tournament being in the first week of the tournament.

To answer your question, some AC players played on the same team that some of the Knott Central players were on during the Fall.

I know that Lee, Owsley, Powell, Perry Central, Hazard, Leslie, and Buckhorn (PCC, Hazard, Leslie, Buckorn had a combined team) played during the Summer. I'm not sure about the rest. And we aren't advertising. I enjoy watching and talking baseball. If it seems like advertising, I apologize. Someone asked the question about off season and I answered. :thumb:

I think that Owsley County is going to be a sleeper this year in the 14'th Region consdering that they did not lose a starter last from last year. Plus they have a coach who knows what he is doing in Craig Burch.

Owsley Co. could have a very good year with both Smith and Bowling.

Owsley has a good overall team this year. They will be very competitive.

Early in the season, will the success of Basketball at Leslie, Lee, Hazard and others affect the Baseball program, since they may be vying for tournament position.

Not in Lee County as there are no players from the Baseball team that play basketball really. Maybe 1 but he's not a starter.

The Owsley Co boys will be ready to bring it. I can't wait! If they will do what they are capable of, they will be dangerous on the diamond.. Of course, Lee Co will be tough. I think they got all their pitchers back from last season. My only prediction for this season in the 14th is: "whoever scores the most runs, will win"! That took awhile! :D

Yes the Owsley Co. boys will be a very dangerous team this year.

Yes Prophet Owsley has three basketball players that start Robert Smith, Trey Congelton, Dustin Wilson start on the baseball team!
