June 3, 201610 yr It's not NKY...but the Cincinnati Nature Center has some EXCELLENT hiking trails if you've never been. :thumb: I grew up hiking CNCs trails and can concur. Another suggestion, however a far piece to travel to, is Ft. Ancient up in Warren County. Would hike a few times a year up there with my parents back in the elementary days! Really can't go wrong either way... Really diggin' the thread. I'll share pics down the road of hikes I take this summer. Happy Hiking folks...
July 27, 201610 yr I just recently became aware of hiking trails at the Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell. They are really nice. Over four miles over 150 acres. So I started wondering if there are some other trails that are well kept secrets in NKY. Anyone have suggestions? Here is a link to the Highland trails if interested. Facilities We hiked here today. Beautiful! Love all the water falls. Interesting history snipets along the way. Highly recommend it. We will be back.

The Dixie Highway entrance to the cemetery is always open during their business/visiting hours, and the Highland Avenue/Lucerne entrance (which is closer to the trailhead) is closed sometimes during business hours. The trails were just really well worn paths through the woods from miscellaneous local hikers when I was a kid (I grew up really close to the Highland Avenue entrance to the cemetery and used to fish/hike/bike/play in there there all the time as a youngster). Now they have 8 well-groomed trails thanks to a perpetual maintenance fund. Bald Eagle Trail (.29 mi) Black Squirrel Trail (1.12 mi) Box Turtle Trail (.45 mi) Fossil Trail (.32 mi) Coyote Trail (.31 mi) Oppossum Path Trail (.03 mi) Screech Owl Trail (.46 mi) Tree Frog Trail (.22 mi) Here's a link to a map of the trails: Highland Cemetary Trail Map

We entered Highlands Cemetery at the entrance across from the Fort Mitchell Kroger. We drove and kept taking right turns through the cemetery (but not driveways), passing a pond that was on our right. Then there was a small parking area on the left side of the road, directly in front of a marked trail head, and we parked there. We hiked all through there and eventually caught another trail that brought us back to our car from a trail on the other side of the road. We were not on sidewalks. So wear your walking shoes. Approx 3 miles on the FitBit. :thumb:

July 28, 201610 yr Alexandria has a nice trail around a lake and it goes back into the woods. Overall it's a couple of miles. You may even catch a Frisbee golfer playing while you are walking.

July 31, 201610 yr Today's adventure was Gunpowder Creek Nature Trails. Fun time, and beautiful scenery. We checked out all the little side paths, too, so about 2.8 miles on the FitBit
