This game is part of the Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown and will be played this Friday at Dixie Heights.

Can anyone give some insight as to what Campbell has returning from last years squad? I know that they won their District. Do they have enough firepower to defeat one of the states top QB's and the Colonels solid defense?

As always, I'll take the Colonels in this one.

I'm very interested in this game. We'll see where the Colonels' O-line and receiver corps stand after being decimated by graduating seniors, and we see if Lickert successfully builds on his program.

I'd agree that the Colonels will take the Camels, but I can't imagine it's going to be the 40 point spread we saw last year...

Durham wasn't playing QB when these two teams played last season. I don't think that would have changed the outcome but I don't think it would have been such a blow out because Campbell would have been able to move the ball and control the clock a little bit better. I think if the Camels have developed a passing attack the game could be close but even so it would be a big challenge to knock off the Colonels. I'll say CCHS 35-CCHS 21 :D

Last year CovCath defeated the Camels at Campbell County by a score of 42-2 but Campbell County rebounded after that loss and made the 6A playoff.

CovCath Defense should should be strong this year with eight returning starters but the offense lost a lot of players from the O-line and WR's.

Campbell returns their starting QB #18 Tyler Durham as does CovCath #6 Blake Bir.

Who wins and why?

I'll take the Camels. Beat CovCath... :thumb:

Like some other week 0/1 matchups, this game will give us a good gauge on where some teams are early on in the season. I really can't pick a winner until I see teams play a couple of games and see what they bring to the table. My biggest questions regarding CCH surround Bir and the loss of his great line from a season ago. Will he get the same protection or will he be rushed and flushed out of the pocket on a consistent basis. I know "Bull" Durham will be a beast this year and be running hard in this game, just don't know what else he has around him in a supporting cast. Should be a competitive game and if I had to pick, I would probably go with CCH due to their solid returnees on the defensive side of the ball. The Burchell/Durham collisions should be worth the price of admission.

Durham vs Hemmer/Burchell/Powell will be fun to watch. Big boy pants required.

CovCath will be too much this yr for Campbell. Campbell is moving in the right direction, it just will take more time.

Coach Lickert is in a win win situation in this game but with CovCaths experience at QB they will roll.

I suspect CovCath will be in a position this yr to coast into the big Sept 21 matchup without showing much of their hand, they will be that good this yr in NKY imo.

Let's revitalize this thread a bit.

What's the word on the Colonel's O-line. Aren't they replacing everyone from last year?

Remember 2006? Remember what most thought of the O-line when the season started? Remember what most thought of the O-line at the end of the season? Think that about this group!

I think the Colonels will be too much for the Camels..CCH 38 Campbell Cty 14

Durham vs Hemmer/Burchell/Powell will be fun to watch. Big boy pants required.

There may not be another team in N. Ky. with two defensive players as good as Hemmer and Burchell. Those two should be D1 bound, and Burchell is still just a junior. CCH will have an excellent defense building around those two.

GO Camels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
