August 8, 201214 yr Author Heisey 8, Valdez 6, Phillips 4, Bruce 9, Ludwick 7, Frazier 5, Cairo 3, Navarro 2, Latos RHP. I feel a huge run production day coming on with this lineup.
August 8, 201214 yr Apparently a caller called into Mo Egger's show recently and said the Reds are better off without Votto in the lineup.

August 8, 201214 yr Author 2 runs max. No I'm serious. I think the Reds will have their way with Wolf today.
August 8, 201214 yr Author The one question I do have with today's lineup is why is Navarro catching? Hanigan has been Latos's catcher all year. Was Hanigan injured last night?
August 8, 201214 yr The one question I do have with today's lineup is why is Navarro catching? Hanigan has been Latos's catcher all year. Was Hanigan injured last night? Think they said last night he's played in something like 15 straight games. Either way, why is Navarro on the roster? He can't catch. Someone forgot to tell him that in order to be a catcher you must be able to actually catch a ball thrown to you.
August 8, 201214 yr I might be better defensively than Navarro has anyone called to see if Terry Francona is available yet? I wont be on the Dusty bandwagon if they sweep the playoffs

August 8, 201214 yr I assume they chose Navarro over Corky because of offense, not defense. Would LOVE to see Corky make one more appearance. Great dude who is living the dream.
August 8, 201214 yr Reds are on a three game losing streak and Dusty runs out a lineup with both Valdez and Cairo in it. Dusty is responsible for cooling off Ludwick, back to back RBI games and he sets him down the next day and two more days in the next week. Geez!!!!!!
August 8, 201214 yr ^ Cincinnati Reds While the Reds have lost three in a row, manager Dusty Baker is concerned with preserving his players for the stretch. How he’s using his catchers is an example of that. “Hanigan has caught a lot,” Baker said. “When he catches too much, he wears down some. (Mat) Latos threw well to Navarro in spring training. Navarro has hit (Milwaukee starter) Randy Wolf well. This is about preserving Hanigan, playing Navarro and getting Mesoraco consecutive days in Chicago.” Chris Heisey started for Drew Stubbs in center, and Wilson Valdez started for Zack Cozart at shortstop. Scott Rolen was out of the lineup also. Todd Frazier played third with Miguel Cairo at first. “You win as many games as you can,” Baker said. “But you have to preserve. When you runs this race, if you make your kick too early, you run out of gas. Anyone who ever ran track knows that, especially in distant races. “You can play your guys into the ground, and they’ll never return. You’ve got to run a strategic race. Guys like (Ryan) Ludwick. He’s 34 and has a history of injuries. Your catchers. Your rookies, like Cozart and (Todd) Frazier. They’re used to their season being over in 2 1/2 weeks at Aug. 31. I’m hoping an extra two months.” Baker has had five playoff teams and made the playoffs four times as player.
August 8, 201214 yr Gotta make it to the stretch run first I'd think. Gotta have the guys available for the stretch run.
