August 1, 201214 yr Then I guess you really DON'T want baseball, softball, basketball, etc. Because there are these things called referees & umpires, who make judgement calls all throughout the games. Can't have any of those. And tennis, wrestling, boxing, judo, taekwando, fencing, water polo, soccer (oops, futbol) and on, and on. Even track and swimming have officials that make judgement calls on things like false starts. It's tough to find any sport that doesn't have some kind of official making some kind of judgement call. All sports have rules that need to be enforced by someone.
August 1, 201214 yr Author I wouldn't take out anything. And you guys who want to take out events like gymnastics and diving, etc....those are among the top Olympic events, IMO. The technical skills that have to be mastered surpass what most of us could ever notice. Definitely worthy of inclusion. Equestrian events as well, especially Dressage. I'm not saying I'd take them out because of their popularity, viewership, or interest. I don't mind gymnastics at all. I'm a BIG fan of diving - the wife of one of my good friends was an Olympic diver. Still, I want to remove the "the judge from [fill in the blank] was being paid off by [fill in the blank] for their voting favor in the women's gymnastics all-around" and the "the judge from [fill in the blank] has problems with [fill in the blank] and never seems to vote as favorably for X country" scenarios. As for equestrian events, I still don't know what I think about that. The horses are SO integrally involved, and I feel like the Olympics are so much more about the human competitors.

You'll also need chips all over the runner's bodies so that tagouts aren't judgement calls.

Like rjs4470 said...it's really tough to find a sport that doesn't have some kind of judgment call somewhere. I just want to minimize judgment calls as much as possible. Sports where you can count, measure, and quantify results by the physical attributes of the results themselves are a far more accurate way to do that rather than having a human mind assess what they find to be a "fair score"...or a "fair deduction".

After a little digging........................Dana and the UFC are the biggest holdups. UFC contracts and the way they are structured. Remember Fedor saying that and UFC's lack of letting him compete in Sambo? Well multiply that by 100........

August 3, 201214 yr I would bring back softball and baseball. Eliminate shooting, because, well it takes no athetlic ability, same for equestrian. I'd remove basketball because it's not fair. I'd add cornhole and golf. Eliminate some of the hundreds of relays in both swimming and track.

August 3, 201214 yr Sports to Add Futsal Rugby Cricket Softball Baseball Tchoukball I just heard about that last one yesterday on a podcast. It's very similar to handball except that instead of a goal, there's a small trampoline. The attacking team has to bounce the ball off the trampoline and scores a point if the defensive team fails to catch it before it hits the ground.
